  • Old app was good, this one isn’t

    By silversnowflake (Pcmac user)

This app is really disappointing. I’ve been using the old app for a while and loved it, but this new app just isn’t very good. It made all my decks public without permission. Not cool. There’s no categories or organization options. I can’t even find a way to manually reorder the decks. In the old app I had everything neatly arranged into categories and put in the proper order. Now it’s a disorganized mess. The blurred image behind pictures on cards is just distracting. It’s especially bad on cards with horizontal images. I’m trying to use the flashcards to learn to recognize an image quickly and the blurred background is making it harder. I really miss being able to reshuffle the cards without exiting and starting the deck over. That made it easy to keep studying the same deck and it seems to be gone now. There are also several cards that have “>” or “<br/>” showing up in the text of the card. I had to waste time going through them to fix those. Just go back to the old app. It was good. This app isn’t.
  • Bring back the old app or fix this app!

    By notokay2019 (Pcmac user)

Agree with other reviews. This app is a mess, and I am dreading the shut down of the old the app Flashcards app on Nov. 30. I will be finding and using another app to complete this semester, so I don’t lose the flashcards I make right when I need to cram for finals. Problems: Flashcards were lost in the migration to the new app. Flashcards were all jumbled and no longer categorized. I use this app for different classes, so that makes it completely useless. The app doesn’t function in landscape mode for ipad, so I can’t use my bluetooth keyboard to make cards or read cards in that orientation. I contacted the app and while they did respond quickly, it was a form letter response and did not solve any of these issues.
  • Garbage

    By KnowNaMe (Pcmac user)

Decided to check this new app out and immediately saw there is no Category folders and said “nope.” I then spent an hour making decks in the good app (Flashcards), and surprise, they’re not syncing to this garbage app. I’ve signed out and back in, I’ve deleted the app and installed again, and I’ve pulled the UI down to refresh about 40 times. Nothing. I decided there’s no getting around it and I’ll have to email my decks to myself like a caveman and import them into this garbage can, I mean this new app, and of course that didn’t work because they seem to have locked down the AWS S3 bucket or otherwise figure out a way to make the once great app Flashcards match the usability of this new app; useless. Time to look for a replacement app, thanks for treating your loyal users like the title of this review the app. Now to half-heartedly copy and paste a response template thanking me for my response, change a few words to attempt to make it sound genuine, and kick me to a general support email, here’s the developer response:
  • Doesn’t Work Anymore

    By kaylieukulele (Pcmac user)

I had this app before and it seemed to work but now it appears to have an update and now it doesn’t work anymore. It won’t load any of my old decks of flash cards I made and when I try to make a new one it’s incredibly slow. Then after waiting several minutes for a picture to upload it fails and when I try to save it the whole deck fails and it didn’t save any of my progress and made me start over which is incredibly frustrating when I’m spending more time trying to make an app work than I am actually studying.
