  • Excited to see an update, but needs more work/testing

    By RadioGeek (Pcmac user)

Like other reviewers, this app crashes or hangs when trying to connect on my mid-2012 MBP running Mountain Lion. I'm able to login and get a list of stations, but can't go any further with this version. I also have the old EchoMac installed on this machine and am able to login and connect to stations/conferences, so I know the problem lies with this app and not my machine or router configuration. Thanks to Erwin for taking on this project and I look forward to the next release.
  • Almost okay, but a lot of potential

    By crhickerson (Pcmac user)

Aside from the fact that EchoMac doesn't (currently) support OS X Yosemite, it’s an almost okay program. It meets the essential requirements for an EchoLink client; however, it lacks certain features that regular users would consider pretty important. The most glaring omission is the ability to bookmark or identify favorite nodes and conferences. Why this feature hasn’t been added puzzles me. Somewhat less obvious is the ability to connect through EchoLink proxy servers. I tend to use EchoLink in places where I don’t have control over the router, so port forwarding isn’t the most convenient solution. More often than not, I boot a virtual machine and run the EchoLink client for Windows instead of EchoMac. Nonetheless, I would prefer to use a native OS X client and I believe EchoMac could be that client if it received a few tweaks. —AE7SL
  • Keyboard Shortcuts?

    By MaxHedrm (Pcmac user)

What's up with not being able to paste with Command-V? And why doesn't the app automatically connect to the EchoLink servers? It's also weird that when you search for a station, it doesn't expand the categories to display the station. Also, double clicking on a station should probably connect, rather than having to select it and click connect. And the search box only searches for call signs, no geography. This definitely has a lot of room for improvement to be a fully functional application. I also have yet to get a succesful connection. Even when I was able to connect from the iOS EchoLink app. I was going to be generous & give 2 stars, but after quitting it and trying again it won't even connect to the servers and download the list.

I got my license in 1993. Operated for five years then moved to places where I could not. Im finally in a place where i can with a computer and yet this app is just not friendly to someone who has been away. The iPad app is awesome but this? Why not even the briefest of descriptions? Why not a direction totutorials for thius version? If this version had the operability of the ipad app i would not even be writing this. Don’t hate. Im just frustrated
