  • Useful but underwhelming

    By use2378426844799531 (Pcmac user)

I use this app about 90% of the time to check my “Journeys” or point A to point B trips and see how the gas mileage is going, average speed etc. journeys could use some improvement such as color-coding the path based on speed either fixed scale or relative to the speed limit. The latest update 1.80 appears to have temporarily disabled Journeys until signing out and back in. My drives yesterday don’t show up, but the day before does, as well as today. The other 10% of the time I use this for remote start. Back in the day this would work an abysmal 10 or 20% of the time with a long timeout. For the past year and a half or so it’s been 100%. My question is why on earth could they not put a start button on the smart key fob??? I can open and close all my windows, open and close the rear hatch, sound the alarm, but not start my car from 30 feet away without unlocking my phone, opening the app, swiping the screen to the remote start screen, clicking remote start, entering my PIN (why? I just unlocked my phone!), and then waiting 5-20 seconds or so depending on signal strength. Overall it does its intended job I suppose. Not amazing but far better than the 1.7 average on here. I think they should purge or at least show the old vs current ratings. It has certainly improved over the past few years. But please, put remote start on the smart key smh.
  • This app makes an average luxury car feel cheap

    By insertclevernamehere (Pcmac user)

I have been underwhelmed with my Diesel F-Pace. While the mileage is great on crowded LA streets, everything else about this car is just average. I think it was a mistake to buy one. A Honda Odyssey or Buick Enclave are both far better. The the app electronics and accompanying apps are a big part of the disappointment. First, repeated sakes lied about “coming CarPlay with an update” as it only applies to one version of the car. Second, the InControl Apps are absolutely, inexcusably bad. The wannabe CarPlay InControl keeps crashing and the quality of the apps is a joke. The InControl Remote is severely limited and doesn’t work most of the time. The ICR app keeps hanging and crashing - after this last update the app REQUIRES you to opt in or out of text alerts, but then CRASHES after you make your choice, even after iPhone restarts, app force quits, and reinstallation. You cannot get past the screen to get to car monitoring. For the premium price of this car/brand, there is no excuse for electronics and operability that are closer to a Coleco handheld game from 1985 than the iPhone you hold in your hand. I’ll never buy a the app again, and I warn Jag owners to avoid the the app apps at all costs. The Automatic Pro does a far superior job and is reliable. It won’t do remote start like ICR claims to, but since ICR is only successful 20-25% of the time when it doesn’t crash, it’s worth the purchase.
  • Worst app ever

    By benefisho (Pcmac user)

I bought a brand new F Pace last year expecting simple things like remote start to work, after all for a luxury auto maker, these technologies are not new. Nope! The remote start works only 30% of the time (and I am being very generous here), most of the time it will say Network Delay, It is taking longer than expected to contact your vehicle, the request is still in progress. You will be waiting forever only to find out it will never connect. I have checked my internet, my cellular LTE, everything. Until I read some of the reviews and realized that this is happening to Everyone. The app would also flash quit for no apparent reason. The worst part is, all of this seem to happen when you really need the car to get started: extreme cold, extreme hot, rain, snow, when you need it the most, it DOES NOT work! I drove this car every day for over a year now, you’d think I am used to this and wouldn’t be this worked up, but as I am sitting here today, a year later, on a cold day in April in midwest, it still makes me super mad to see my car stone cold after attempting to start it via his app. If you are looking for any kind of wireless connection to work on these Jaguars, don’t bother. I will NEVER. Buy a the app again.
  • Do not get!!!

    By Kurstie doles (Pcmac user)

After recently purchasing a the app XF, I was super excited to try out this app. I downloaded the app and did a test start to see if it would start the car through the remote and it did! I was so excited and about 1 hour later I got in my car to leave and I could not push to Start. It would not allow me to start the car, so I tried starting the car through the app and it wouldn’t let me start it that way either! So I started to panic and called several the app Assistance lines and stayed on the phone for about 2 hours for them to tell me I had to bring it to a local dealership! Well I live 2.5 hours from my nearest dealership and since the car wouldn’t crank it was going to have to be towed, until I finally got in touch with a local mechanic and he told me to do a “hard reset” to the car which was to unhook the battery for 15 min. Thank god this worked!!! I would not have been a happy the app owner if it did not!! I do not think this was the cars fault, but instead this poorly manufactured app!! Download and use at your own risk!! (Ps. I had to give it a star rating in order to submit this review, it got NEGATIVE stars in my opinion)
