How to download and install LumaFusion on your Laptop or Desktop computer

5 Rating: 5 - 3,050 votes

If you want to install and use the LumaFusion app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use LumaFusion for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: LumaFusion for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type LumaFusion in the search bar and press Search. Click on LumaFusion application icon. A window of LumaFusion on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the LumaFusion icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: LumaFusion for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use LumaFusion for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

  • When updated, this makes more bugs.

I’ve used this for about 6 months. I use this for making 1-minute movie for instagram. But recently, there are some bugs which are bothering me. 1. This cannot make 59.30~59.99. lengths movie. 2. And moreover, when I set the 1:00.00 and put it to project, it changes 1:00.01. 3. When I play a source movie and then select project window, but source movie is still playing. It stops when i select the movie. 4. Lastly, recent update cannot update the source list. Before this update, when I made a movie, this app updated the list by itself. But after the update, it doesn’t and even though when I select “Video” or “Gallery”, it can’t update. It works when I touch the icon of “Source”.

I have used numerous video editors over the years and review plenty on my YouTube channel and I must say, it is by far the best video editor available. $19.99 may seem high for those of you who are new to using apps like this, but considering what you are getting, it’s a bang for your buck. Consumers have been thrown into a maelstrom of apps that are falsely charging subscription fees that are not warranted. This app offers a one-time purchase and I have yet to pay one in-app purchase. If you want to be careful with your spending, get a high quality product, and not be duped by other editors that charge subscription fees with far less features, I recommend this app without hesitation.

  • Great app! Would like a couple of things in the future

The app is really awesome, amazing, and a big step in the right direction over iMovie. A couple of things don’t work correctly though, here are a few I have noticed: ======= Issues ======= All problems arose when editing a MP4 files with 10M bitrate, 1080p, 29.997 FPS on an iPhone 7+ 128GB model on iOS 11.4.1 + Splits the clip in the timeline causes the app to not update the timeline for quiet awhile, the video will not play until the split calculation finishes (on iMovie this does not occur). + Sometimes when importing a movie file from another app the file does not show up in the imported media folder within LumaFusion app even though on the iPhone storage screen it shows the app taking up an increased amount of space equivalent to what would of been the imported file’s size. Restarting the app does fix this issue I had to uninstall and reinstall. + When trying to important files from a network share that is smb running off of an Ubuntu 16.04.4 server it doesn’t ask for credentials and just says access not available. ===================== Features I would like to see ===================== + Optical Flow, I know this one would probably be difficult to bring to iOS. + Design the user interface to allow for a larger video previewing area, larger timeline height. It appears that this can be done but because of some artistic design decisions this isn’t happening. ======== Thoughts ======== I am not sure if the app creates a proxy file for the movie you are currently editing when it is imported into your timeline, but I believe some of clip splitting lag can be reduced by making a proper proxy file that can exhume the current size of the video preview. Again not sure how you got this to work. Even if it takes more time to generate in the beginning, making editing smoother would be worth it.
  • What an Awesome app

I’m a professional video editor and I use Adobe software. No my fusion is cutting edge for on the go editing on my iPhone X and iPad. I have experienced zero bugs very smooth play back Quality affects and a very easy Lay out. You can even import your color grading LUTs and .cube files that you create in Premier Pro. You can also save any customization you do with effects as a new preset. You can also copy and paste all settings on the clip to another clip. When you export a video in Lumafusion it is fast. I had a video that was 356 MB and it exported in under 10 seconds on my iPhone X. There is a lot to talk about when it comes to features with this app and I recommend a LumaFusion.
  • Powerful but quirky and frustrating

I used to use Pinnacle and mostly loved it. Luma I love and hate though. It’s much more powerful but for me it’s a little frustrating to use. There are weird little quirks that happen and I never really seem to figure out what is going wrong.. video playback tunes black... i here the audio.. sometimes the video audio is playing but I have playback stopped.. a force restart is the only fix. Audio ducking just doesn’t work at all for me. I’ve read the manual, watched YouTube tutorial and posted to their forums.. not much action on their forums so sometimes it takes a few days for an answer.. there are plenty of questions that have just never been answered on the forums.. I guess if you are a professional video editor this app is easier to navigate. For the layperson that just wants to make some decent videos on their iPad maybe iMovie is the best choice. I am probably going back to it shortly.

Love this App! So much better than anything else, and I’m just beginning to learn the ropes.
  • Good enough, but only having 3 layers is a struggle

I think this is probably the ONLY decent Video Editor on mobile. If you don't have a computer that supports video editing, get this. I may have a PC, but it's a desktop, so I cannot really take it anywhere. One annoyance, as you may see above, is the limited amount of layers (only 3 video and audio each). Some may not find this as annoying as I do, but I think there should be AT LEAST 20 layers total (could be 10 audio and 10 video.) Then it will feel more worth its value. It may not fit on screen but you might be able to program in vertical scrolling on the timeline to add this feature.
