If you want to install and use the iMovie app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use this app for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type iMovie in the search bar and press Search. Click on iMovie application icon. A window of iMovie on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use this app for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

Download on Andriod, Iphone
Free On iTunes
Download Android

Thank you for reading this tutorial. Have a nice day!

Being in the industry for 30 years I have worked with many software editing programs. Apple iMovie throws in a lot of fun gadgets but does not have the most simplest functions for an editing option platform to enable you to produce a professional looking product. Their old software that they discontinued 5 years ago was much more intuitive. For example, stripping Audio from your video, do overlays, both video and audio. Taking music and placing it where you want to place it, when you want to place it and being able to manipulate the audio under and over scenes. This limits your ability to do multiple angles and cutaways during your production/video. When you try this it takes the audio with the video and throws everything out of sync. The ability to do insert and overlay edits. Put these features in and I will give it a 4. Make the editing platform easier to use ( just follow your old program you discontinued) and it will get a 5. The trailers are fun but strictly for titles and stills. Try to splice in live video and you have a nightmare of problems. Lastly you give the ability to compress the finished project to fit into most presentation software programs. Mahalo
  • Good, but some suggestions

I think the app is great! I use it to edit my videos and make them look professional. There are a few things I think Apple Should do though. First of all, I think they should add an option to actually move the text wherever you want, not just where the set locations are. I also think they should make an option to choose the color of your text. This would be very helpful! Lastly, I think that we should be able to add a picture over a video (overlapping). I think that adding these features would bring the app to 5 stars by me, and I'm sure it'll bring much more happier customers in the future. Something else to note, which really frustrates me, is the fact that when you have missing photos or videos in your project, it doesn't let you save it! I've worked so hard on this one project and because I have 1 picture missing from my camera roll, I can't play it back or share it! Also, I do not like how you cannot move audio to the exact spot where you want it- songs you have in your library have to start from the beginning of the movie, not when you want it to Please fix this!!
  • Overall great, but some suggestions as well

I really love this app! It’s very simple to use and can be used to make some very nice videos. The way you can make trailers is super cool too! It basically makes it for you and it comes out looking very professional! However there are some things that I really wish would change. First of all the text, I wish you could move it wherever you think its looks best, not just the center or bottom left or right corner and be able to choose a color for it. Another thing is the fact that you can’t do the slow zoom effect which is gaining much fame amongst YouTubers. I also wish that you could do some more effects like wavy effects or distortions if that makes sense. I know that you can do some of these on IMovie on Macs but that leads me to the last thing, I wish there were just overall more of the things you can do on Macs available for iPhones because let’s face it, most people with IMovie have iPhones. But with just a couple changes it could be sooo much better!! I hope you take this into consideration 😊
  • Really disappointed.

Really, for 5$ (at least it was when I bought it years ago) you'd think it'd be WAY less glitchy. No matter what I do, the same glitches seem to occur for me over the past years. I've been through three different phones, and it's a bummer because I can't find an app that is quite advanced as this one (is supposed to be). The worst thing about all of the glitches if I have to pick just one- is the audio problems. If I made a background clip MUTE, it should stay mute. Sometimes I will save a video to my phone and the entire audio will suddenly be in the background even though it wasn't there when I previewed it. Sometimes I get screechy noises on moments where I made a clip break. No matter what I do I can't seem to fix this or get it to save to my phone differently. It's really agitating seeing as how it's been years. Sigh. Please. This app has so much potential. (Edit) And now I’ll probably stop using it completely because suddenly I can’t use ANY music? What the *** is this?? I paid for this app and can’t use any music because it’s “protected”. I’m making this video for my own personal use. I should be able to use the music on my phone. This broke my heart. Thanks iMovie

I use iMovie for all my YouTube videos and was almost done editing a video that took me 4 days to do. Then the app crashed and now I cant get it to open back up again. Each time I click on it, it goes to a black screen and then kicks me out. Im SO ANGRY! All that hard work editing my video and now I cant get to it! PLEASE fix this ASAP!

Love this app, I’m starting a vlog and I have been using this app to help me edit my videos. It has been so helpful too!
  • Crashes and Freezing?

    By nomadic squid
I’ve been using imovie for years now and it has its perks but there are also a lot things that could be improved. I’ve had lots of experiences where the app just stops working and I can’t click on anything within the app. Sometimes the app will also move things around like my audio and sound effects and the video will just black out for no reason. These glitches make the app hard to use for long periods of time or for projects. I turned in a project a week late for school because of these issues. Please fix these bugs and for people looking to download this app, beware of crashes and make sure to save your projects somewhere else that’s safer.
  • VHS tapes

    By luis and freinds
I love this app but I think it needs a VHS tape feature and a high contrast feature too if apple is reading this then I hope they agree
  • WORST APP EVER MADE (please fix bugssssss)

So,overall when i first got this app, i was pretty surprised. But as it interacted more and more with it i found some pretty disappointing bugs, one is you MUST make the picture so you can c the whole thing, sometimes when i put in. a picture, you can see half the picture.pls fix that bug, theres TONS of more problems, and if u get the app, you’ll know what i mean.
  • Add More Transitions Please!

    By LogicalReader
I love this app, I use it almost every day, especially when it comes to editing my YouTube videos. This app definitely deserves 5 stars but I wish they can add just a few more transitions because there's only five of them.
  • Mostly good, needs things added

    By Someone 747
This app is awesome but would be way better if you could A. Have the ability to be able to put a song anywhere in it, B. If you could move text wherever you want, And lastly C. (The one I think iMovie needs the most) if there was an option to have a portrait mode instead of just landscape
  • Great

I wish there was more you could do with the app like special effects or something.!But it’s still pretty cool. Just like I said it’s only putting videos together that you make with you’re regular camera. I wish it was cooler. Please consider giving it an update or something.
