1. The history of the basic postures in the Yang form can be traced back through Wudang mountain to Shaolin Temple, developed from a series of movements originating from "Chang Quan" (Long Fist, a reference to the winding Long River, another name for the Yangtze).

2. Bodhidharma's teaching at the Buddhist Shaolin Temple around 550AD, which detailed the theory of using the mind to lead the Qi to energize the physical body, is widely considered the origin of all Internal Martial Arts, including Tai Chi.

3. In China, t'ai chi ch'uan is categorized under the Wudang grouping of Chinese martial arts, which are applied with internal power (jing), using Qi (energy).

    The instructor obviously knows what he is doing, but has a little understanding of how to teach. The task of finding my way around this confusing array of pictures and explanations is not what I intended to buy. Certainly not worth the money.
  • Not What I Wanted

    I am disappointed as it was not what I was looking for. Very little instructions on how to do the movements, step by step and way too much talking. I have taken Tai Chi and Qigong from several instructors and the rapid movements shown here I have not seen before. I wanted to be able to do the 24, 40, or 108 following the video, but not with these videos. Regret the purchase.
