Until apple opens up the api for siri on the mac I guess we're stuck with ios transcription. I haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping with a better microphone, the transcriptions might actually reflect the recordings. Issues I've had so far, I didn't see an undo button which stinks if you type something by accident. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, build in dropbox support instead of the app icloud. I have no desire to subscribe to yet another service. I have the space on my dropbox but icloud will the app get eaten away since apple only gives 5gb per account instead of device. Definately discourages buying multiple devices. It's not the best app on mac or ios but it's also one of the only ones like this. update: things to change/enhance as I come across them: 1. Dropbox support so I don't have to pay the crazy apple cloud prices. It should be 5gb per device not account. 2. When I select the recording and open in the app, I would like to be able to resize the window.
  • only worthwhile if you have the iOS app

    By Ignatius_J_Reilly (Pcmac user)

If you’re already using the iOS app, this could be a useful companion app because it lets you see and edit the transcripts the iOS version creates. If you’re NOT using the iOS version, skip this. It leaves out the one feature that sets the iOS version apart: voice-to-text transcription. So you might as well use QuickTime Player in that case, which is pre-installed and can make a recording the app as easily.
  • This app is disappointing

By David J. M. (Pcmac user)

Last night I bought the iOS app. I am pleased with it. So I decided to buy the Mac app. I was looking forward to fast syncing (via iCloud) of recordings and transcripts from my iPhone. iCloud syncing does work. However, the problem with this app is the way it displays those recordings/transcripts. It doesn’t list all your recordings and transcripts in one easy to access place as the iOS app does. Instead, when you open the app, it shows no recordings or transcripts at all. You have to choose Open from the File menu and open the recordings one by one. This is annoying because this app names its files by date. So the names of the files don’t describe what’s in the audio or transcript. So if you make a whole bunch of recordings on the iPhone, when you get back to the Mac, you have no idea which file is which until you open each one. I suppose you could look at the this app app on the iPhone for reference, to see which file is which, but it should be simpler. There should be a quick way to see all recordings and transcripts in the Mac app, the app like you can on the iOS app! So I feel this app is a lazy piece of programming and is overpriced even at $4.99. I suppose this app is still the quickest way to sync recordings/transcripts from the iOS version of the app. For that, I give it one star. But it’s still a big disappointment.
  • Worthless App

    By Dana Lindahl (Pcmac user)

I liek the iOS app for the fact that I can easily record something with one tap from my Apple Watch and have the recording and transcription available on my iPhone and in the cloud. I purchased the MacOS version (separately, another $4.99) and the MacOS app is almost compeltely void of any features. It does nto offer a decent view to see my recordings, and each needs to be opened one by one from a poorly named file to play them back in their own window, where the transcription is located. I contacted support and the only advice they could give me is to manually rename each file on my iPhone so I can find it easier on my Mac. Doesn't sovle the problem whatsoever. This should be incredibly easier to program on a Mac than for iOS, there is almost zero functionality available form this Mac app and charging for it hwne i've already paid for a superior iOS app is ridiculous.
