  • Not worth it

By A F*cking Dragon (Pcmac user)

I spent $20 on the the app adapter hoping to make some coding tweaks on my GTI. I used the month long free trial of the “pro” features to mess around with my windows and lights and other trivial little things. The features are pretty limited and there’s no long coding support. After that I let the trial end then canceled my subscription, expecting that I’d still be able to use the more basic features like resetting service notices and checking fault codes. NOPE! Every feature on the app is now behind a paywall making the adapter completely useless. Of course I have the option to pay $40 for a years’ worth of app usage or $10 for a week, but come on! I have to pay half of or double what the adapter cost just to reset my oil change reminder? That doesn’t add up. OBD tools are plenty cheap now and trying to make people pay extra fees to use the basic features of this one is foolish. Sure, they could keep the customizing features behind their paywall but don’t make the tool completely worthless if someone doesn’t want to pay more for something they just bought. Devs, if you insist on getting people to cough up more for your product, why not allow people to buy pro access for a specific vehicle for life? An extra $5 means I get to tweak my car as long as I have it? I guess that’s reasonable. Food for thought.
  • It’s ok, but doesn’t worth its price!

    By Will_074 (Pcmac user)

40 bucks for this is unreal, the app it self is okay. But for the price we should have more options instead windows/lights and door to be reprogrammed. My Audi A3 could be reprogrammed on how I want to lock and unlock, windows, lights (which was cool) but it doesn’t justifies the price! It does reads hidden codes (which is cool) but again 40 bucks nahhh I’d say for 9,99 it’s okay, and they do have this price but for a week lol (see they think that this thing worth like gold). Nice try, I took advantage of the free week that they gave me and could do everything I wanted during this time. Even after finished I said ... okay I’ll buy it cause it was cool, then 40 bucks lol (nope) 9,99 per year and I’ll be here buying and also giving the 5 stars.

    By AtlGli (Pcmac user)

I love this app. I knew I wanted to change a few characteristics of how the lights operate, windows operate, and the locking procedure for the car. I was able to change much more than I anticipated through the app and the supporting the app adapter. Recently this new update came out, claiming that you can change the volume for the stupid sound aktor device Vw/Audi uses, and while most features added to the app work with my car, this one doesn’t seem to even show up as an option to change. I’m even able to change the torque steer compensator; so while the app has tons of features, some may claim to be compatible with your car but not functional. I’ll do 5 stars if the devs can fix the issue or come out and specify which models of Vw/Audi get the sound aktor ability. EDIT: function doesn’t apply to my vehicle. 5 stars added.
  • Too Expensive!

    By rkricketts (Pcmac user)

As a (former) retail software developer, I understand why devs are moving toward subscription models. But $40/year is too expensive for what is generally an infrequently-used, casual-use app. None of the other apps I subscribe to, like RoboKiller and Overcast to name just two, cost anywhere near as much and I use them *far more often*. Overcast could quadruple its subscription and I’d still pay it because I use it heavily – hours per week. Its use:cost ratio is very favorable. But the app, not so much. I’d probably use this a few times per year, that’s all. Very unfavorable use:cost ratio. the app, as I understand, already discourages commercial use and “oversharing” by limiting the number of vehicles (by VIN) that can be tweaked. I’m fine with that. I just want to tweak our two cars, that’s all. But I want to revisit my tweaks occasionally. Offer a $10 or $15(tops) per year sub and I’m pretty sure the developer will see many more annual subs. I would sub for that. $40 is a lot for a seldom-used app. $10 or $15 isn’t. And I will not pay $10 for one week, either. That math is even worse.
