What is Mindfulness Coach?

Mindfulness Coach 2.0 is a free app developed by VA's National Center for PTSD to help Veterans, Service members, and others learn how to practice mindfulness. The app provides a gradual, self-guided training program designed to help users understand and adopt a simple mindfulness practice. It offers a library of information about mindfulness, audio-guided mindfulness exercises, goal-setting and tracking, a mindfulness mastery assessment, customizable reminders, and access to other support and crisis resources.



Software Features and Description

1. Mindfulness Coach also offers a library of information about mindfulness (for example “What is Mindfulness?”, “How to Anchor Your Attention”), 12 audio-guided mindfulness exercises and a growing catalog of additional exercises available for free download, goal-setting and tracking, a mindfulness mastery assessment to help you track your progress over time, customizable reminders, and access to other support and crisis resources.

2. Mindfulness has been shown to be effective for reducing stress, improving emotional balance, increasing self-awareness, helping with anxiety and depression, and coping more effectively with chronic pain.

3. Mindfulness Coach 2.0 was developed to help Veterans, Service members, and others learn how to practice mindfulness.

4. Mindfulness Coach is free, doesn’t take or share any of your personal information, and doesn’t require add-on purchases.

5. The app provides a gradual, self-guided training program designed to help you understand and adopt a simple mindfulness practice.

6. Mindfulness means noticing and paying attention to what is going on in the present moment, without passing judgment on it.

Install Mindfulness Coach app on your Windows in 4 steps below:


  1. Download an Android emulator for PC:
    Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

  2. Install the emulator:
    On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

  3. Using Mindfulness Coach on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:
    • Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Mindfulness Coach"
    • The search will reveal the Mindfulness Coach app icon. Open, then click "Install".
    • Once Mindfulness Coach is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Mindfulness Coach.

- Great tool for learning about mindfulness and becoming a more relaxed person in general

- Recommended by therapists who have done clinical rotations in the VA

- Thorough and has good features

- Free with no in-app purchases required and no advertisements


Cons:

- The voices and recordings could be done better, with some recordings having noticeable microphone turning on and off sounds

- Could benefit from adding a little music in the background to improve the overall experience.

  • Love this app...but needs some changes

    I absolutely love this app!! I downloaded a lot of the app apps and this is my favorite. The only complaint I have is the voices and recordings could be done a lot better. Some of the recordings it’s easy to hear the speaker turn on and off the microphone. At least add a little music in the background to lessen that. Also, some of the voices are just not good voices for the app. The app itself is amazing and by far the best I found especially for learning the app! I hate to even take off a star... but the fact is... it could definitely be improved upon. Please don’t let this app just ‘be’. Make it even better because it’s an amazing tool in recovery!! I am a veteran and my therapist suggested this app for me.

    This app was developed for helping military personnel suffering from PSTD - it is a very well thought through easy to use teaching & practice aid. Does as much & probably more than several other paid apps I have used for meditation & the app - guess it is a paid app via US taxes but free from the App Store - can’t understand why anyone would pay for anything else when this is available and it is unbelievable it is for FREE

    Visual and/or audio! Body scan is great, I use it when I need help falling asleep!! Breathing tool (9minutes) is by far the best I've found for daily/nightly relaxation!!! Many other meditation options available on this free app for ANYONE to use!!!! Remember, you can modify your positions to fit your needs. The breathing says to sit, but I lay. The body scan is longer, so depending on what I need it for (meditation or sleeping), I sit or lay down.

    This app is a great tool for learning about the app, and just to be a more relaxed person in general. My therapist recommended it for me, she found out about it from doing her clinical rotations in the VA. I think it’s great! It’s very thorough, has good features, and it’s free with no in-app purchases required!! And no advertisements!! They recently renovated the app completely, and it’s even better than it was before.
