  • Thermodo is Hot!

    By MommyWoman (Pcmac user)

I was one of those nerds who Backed this little gadget/project on KickStarter, so I got it in KickStarter green, which helps to keep me from losing it! This neat little doodad works quite a bit better than I initially expected it to, being as it operates via the headphone jack. I've found that this little gizmo is very accurate, even over time (over a few hours - my max has been just short of 14 hours). The setting that allows it to compensate for warming of the device caused by its use is handy as hell and actually does lend to the accuracy of the readings! I've verified the readings by using a couple of additional thermometers, digital and mercury based, and they've all been consistent with each other. The reasons I need to obtain accurate temperature readings inside my home are our various pets. It's not that we have lots of them, or even particularly exotic varmints; but we do love our creatures and want them to be comfortable and happy so as to live as long a life as possible. All in all, this tiny nugget of technology is terrific, as is its accompanying software. Which is what I have learned to expect from a company called RoboCat. It's about time someone acknowledged the programming abilities of our intellectual superiors, Kittehs. I'm hopeful that we'll get more useful, inspired hardware & software from RoboCat! 😸
  • Watch out when you plug in your headphones

    By Decididly Neutral (Pcmac user)

This a great app for the this app device. It gives (as far as I can tell) quick and accurate temperature readings. The aluminum does take longer to cool down than it does to heat up though. The problem is that when I plug in the this app device it automatically turns the volume up on the headphones all the way. When I immediately plug in my headphones afterwards my ears feel like they're about to be blown off. I hope this gets addressed, as I see no reason for it. I don't always remember to turn down the volume, and I think this dissuades me from using the this app as often as I would otherwise.
  • It works

    By JohnZ1492 (Pcmac user)

It seems to be simple in concept and design. It shouldn't need a manual, but FAQ or tips might help some. I initially thought mine was inoperative on receipt. It was stuck at 25°C or its Fahrenheit equivalent either plugged into an extension cable or directly to the headset jack. Before I sent it back, I tried it on another iPad and it worked... Mine was set to monaural audio output, switching to stereo solved the problem.
  • Not working on iPhone X with iOS 12

    By Blaze600 (Pcmac user)

I’m not sure what’s going on but the app refuses to detect the this app device when It’s plugged in. Everything used to work perfectly on my iPhone 7 running iOS 10. I’m really concerned as well that this device & app has been abandoned as there hasn’t been an update in 4 years, I really hope that’s not the case. The app desperately needs an update. Please please push out an update to fix these issues! Thank you!
