iBrightness X for Pc

Simple & effective , save my keyboard buttons ^_^

I expected this app to be a menubar equivalent of the brightness setting in the Display System Preference. I was hoping that I could use less power by reducing the backlights from the menubar. The app seems to do that but there is a disconnect between Apple's System Preferences brightness slider and the slider in this app. Although moving one slider seems to change the other, the darkest state in this app is way, way darker than Apple's brightness control. The only way I can think of this app might do that is to overlay semi-transparent black over the entire screen which doesn't result in (additional? any?) power savings. This app may still be useful if you want a super dark screen if your spouse is sleeping or night vision needs to be retained, but it isn't the 5 star app that I was looking for. It would also make sense for the Apple slider and this slider to be scaled to each other. Lowering the system slider to the darkest setting makes this app slider go to the bottom; but as soon as you click this app's slider, the screen goes into the super dark mode even though the slider position is unchanged. Two different sliders in this app or a slider that clearly indicates the bottom of the power saving scale and goes still darker would make a lot more sense. For now, I'm sticking to the app (different developer). That application's UI is not well suited to a desktop Mac (something it warns you about on launch) but I do understand what that application does and that with lower settings I am definitely being more energy efficient.
