  • Great quick detail view of devices but could use more depth

    By DrewGunn (Pcmac user)

I work with a lot of different locations and networks. Two of the key items needed are NIC manufactors and MAC addresses. Host names are great as well but are only additional info. I’ve used this app on my MacBook Air as a replacent tool in the field to a Windows style app called NEWT. This app does not have the same capabilities in detail as NEWT for Windows (OS details, full hardware details, hardware vendor details, etc) but does get the job done it was designed for and keeps a list of divices cached for me to reference to. I would def. recommend it to others but would also recommend you check the functionallity of this app Pro as well. Pro came later and it is sort of unsettling to pay $37 for this app and have to pay $50 for Pro if I want to upgrade to more features.
  • Expensive worthless junk

    By showqueen (Pcmac user)

All this pure waste of money does is pick up your Mac's IP address, make a guess at the range of IPs in use, and give you a go-or-no status on each device. Pingable devices available through a VPN connections are flat-out ignored and you're not allowed to add ranges of your own choosing, so network pros should stay as far away from this app as they can.
  • Powerful Utility

    By Mike Chillit (Pcmac user)

I resisted this app for a long time because of the price, but I’m glad I finally caved. It is very robust and does what it is supposed to do better than anything else I’ve tried. Have several other titles that just don’t do enough. Needs something to warn users it will not poll networks when you are on a VPN. I thought it was just broken at first, but once I turned off VPN, I was able to get my local network w/o difficulty. I run a lot of web cams, in addition to a robust local network and this has been an invaluable tool.
  • Way overpriced

    By Dogmaphobia (Pcmac user)

It does what it does but for the amount they charge I would expect way more. I use a simple iOS app for the same purpose that provides by far more detailed information about the devices found on a network. And that only cost $5! I got this for the convenience of using it within the desktop but it lacks severely. Anything Apple shows as “Apple MacIntosh Device”? Even iPhones and AppleTV? The router is listed as “Network Printer” even though it’s the default gateway? What about distinguishing wired devices and wireless devices? RSSI values for these? The information is all there.
