Software Features and Description

1. RF Explorer is an affordable Handheld Spectrum Analyzer designed from scratch to be a sort of Swiss Army Knife for the specific needs of ISM band digital communication.

2. These can be exported (simple copy/paste) as a PNG, PDF for inclusion in reports; as text or Latex for use in a Laboratory Information system or as CSV files.

3. - Improved Copy/Paste and Print (including Latex and text versions of the settings).

4. The iRF Explorer application connects to the device over the USB port using a normal USB to mini-USB cable.

5. Depending on the model and (optional) expansion board you'll be able to cover all ISM bands.

6. - Support for Lab-book/notebook auxiliary info on print and paste.

7. - Control over PDF v.s. TIFF/PNG copy/export for LIMS applications which do support only either format.

8. You are then able to extract spectrums, spectrograms and capture screenshots.

9. In the latter case - a paste in Numbers/Excel will allow you to further manipulate the numbers.

10. For those who do not yet have an an RF-Explorer - there is a demo which uses your microphone as the source for a spectrum.

11. Furthermore simple maxima, averages and standard deviations can be calculated on the fly.

  • Avoid - at all cost

    By rwindmann (Pcmac user)

Immature piece of software, I can't believe Apple let this slip through the cracks. 50% of the time it freezes upon execution. The other 50% of the time, the process dies 100% of the time when you go into the preferences. Process zombies after that, and cannot be killed unless you restart your system.
  • it works

    By jonwormwood (Pcmac user)

So when I tried installing the drivers nothing happened. I tried again several days later and it went through the install menu, restarted. I plugged the rf explorer in and it works! So I can verify it 100% works on mavricks.
  • Don’t blame the tool...

    By bensnacks (Pcmac user)

Everyone complaining about it crashing/not working.. All you need to do is download/install the Silicon Labs driver, and it works like a charm.
  • Crashed first time I opened it and each time after

    By Randy qw (Pcmac user)

As others have said it crashes in short order, repeatedly… The software is not ready for prime time and frankly neither is the RF Explorer or Sig generator… It would be a great product for a great price if they ever work the bugs out, but for now not worth the trouble.
