  • AES 256 bit encryption, decryption that is the BEST for OS X !

    By ProducerJon (Pcmac user)

I have had crypt for two years, and when Apple Mac OS Mountain Lion came out, it was not compatible at first but within two weeks or so, the developer of this great app, had a fix for it, and I had a flexible, and one of the FEW…., MAC OS X, 256 bit AES, DOD, encryption, that you can drag and drop, a file or folder onto, the app, when launched. And any password, you choose, of course, be wise, use an 8 character alpha numeric at least, however, it can be any combination. The best part is, no-one can crack these 256 bit files with a good password on them, and you can even re-encrypt the file a second or third time, and so on. Whether it is audio, video, graphic, or text, etc, the file will becorrctly decrypted, and untouchable, by anyone. Just make sure you keep that password, backed up somewhere. For the low price, and flexibility and reliability I give this a 5 star rating.
  • Kudos to Steve Dekorte

I had been a customer of Crypt since before it came to the MAS, and I can tell you it was well worth the $10 he used to charge for it. I paid it happily because it filled a niche not occupied by other apps. Sure, File Vault is great…if you want to encrypt your whole drive. But if you want to do it on a file-by-file (or folder-by-folder) basis? And you perhaps want to have different passwords for different files/folders? Crypt is the perfect tool. And now, I see Dekorte has gone and open-sourced it and made it free. That’s an outstanding response to the now year-old revelations of pervasive data surveillance by the government. What a stand-up act on his part. If this were still a paid app, I’d say spend the money without hesitation. As it is, I’d say do yourself a favor and grab this excellent little app for free.
  • Stand up App, Stand up guy

    By nogdog21 (Pcmac user)

The title pretty much says it all. This App used to cost around 6$ I believe and I purchased it then (well worth the investment). It seems the creator has now decided to offer the app for free given the pervasive government entities that have proven time and time again that they have no issue breaking the law to steal your data. Stand up move from a stand up guy. As far as the app is concerned I have used it many times to encrypt many files and feel 100% confident with their security 256 Bits of entropy after all cannot be broken by any technology currently possesed by man and probably never will. Highly reccomend use of this app, just make sure you never forget your chosen encryption password, because if you do, those files are gone forever.
  • Great App.

After I downloaded the app, I tested it out on an old file. After I dragged the file to the open App, it asked me for a password and to retype the password to make sure thats what i wanted. A box opened up with some folders there to ‘open’. I chose to make a new folder, and i put the file there. After it encrypted, I tested to see if it would open; it did. I tested to see if i can encrypt multiple files; it did. I tested to see if I can encrypt folders; it did. Each time I check Finder to see if the files and folder were encrypted; they were. I loaded this App on my MBP, and I am running the updated Yosimite OS. This App was free when I got it. The creater of this App was generous.
