  • Gread document management software

    By TexAustin (Pcmac user)

Very confused by the negative reviews. I use the software to scan bills, statements, receipts, and documents (was looking to slowly convert to a this app home instead of filing the mass amount of bills, statements, etc. that come in the mail daily). The software works flawlessly for me. I have migrated to several different comptuers (iMac to Mac Air) all with out issue. I have tried Neat Receipts and this app. this app is 10 times better and more customizable. The one area it is lacking is syncing to iCloud. It does not do this so I use dropbox. I know this app recommends against this, but it has worked great for me. In a nutshell I store the paperlesss library in a dropbox folder that replicates up to the cloud. The other lacking feature is an iPad app. Would be great to look up a document while on the go. Pros - Easy UI - More flexible & poweful than Neat receipts - Great organization features - Ability to create custom fields and data types Cons - No Cloud syncing support - No iPad app (would require cloud support) - Changing the way data is viewed based on data type (for example, it would be great is business cards were displayed looking as if they were business cards). Summary Great scan and electronic doc management software for someone looking to do away with papers, statements, and documents around the home. I use with the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner (S1500M)
  • wish it was a little better

    By Biggovt (Pcmac user)

I bought this app a few months ago when I bought my new Scansnap scanner (which rocks), but they didn't provide software for mac. On the face of it, it does what it claims, and it has some interesting advanced functions, but its bugginess is annoying, and it makes me nervous about the hundreds of pages I have already imported into it. I was on a scanning/shredding bender today, and for some reason, the autocorrect kept substituting the first letter of whatever I typed and prevented me from changing it (I found a clunky workaround, but that is stupid.) I also use Evernote, which is not entirely problem-free, but it doesn't try to help me too much like this app. I'm annoyed by the constant prompts to back up (good idea under the circumstances). The autofill, which I can't figure out how to turn off, is awful. I like the data entry features in this app, but the little annoyances prevents me from committing to it for business.
  • Good Option for Neat Refugees, Clear Room for Improvement

    By Christopher Price (Pcmac user)

My this app office fell apart when Neat abandoned their non-cloud desktop software customers, suddenly, and without warning. this app is a good option for people to fall back to, now that they have clearly left the space. Articles covering life after Neat Desktop go into more detail. I still prefer Neat on my older Yosemite machine for scanning, as it has much better OCR than this app. this app replicates the document management features of Neat well, but scanning and OCR leaves massive room for improvement. Also, a lack of cross-compatibility between Mac and Windows versions of this app is another minus. With older, functional Windows PCs quite literally serving as doorstops for me (and many others), it would be really nice to tap one of my spare older Windows PCs to keep a shadow copy of my this app vault on, always at the ready.
  • Much to like, even more to hate!!!

    By Wdav (Pcmac user)

This thing crashes like a 2.5 drunk in a NASCAR race would do! Every single time! Mariner is the poster child for abandonware. A REAL fix may be here before the 2020 election is finalized! If you are seriously considering investing $35 in this software you may want to rethink the cost/benefit ratio. I would suggest going and getting a couple of cases of beer instead! _______________________________________ They have a good start on this app but like most of Mariner software they have abandoned cleaning it up. No polish has been applied to this app and it desperately needs it. It could be a good/great piece of software but is now barely marginal. There are too many instances of the app applying names, dates, values, etc. that are just bogus. Aparently the disigners decided that this information just pulled out of the air is better than just a blank field. Scanning rarely works, but it does sometimes… Viewing and printing are extremely rudimentary and generally the output isn’t what you see on the preview. Not sure how the folks at Mariner Software hold their heads up and say “job well done” but I guess they do. Every piece of software I have from Mariner has a great idea behind it and no follow thru to make it usable or practical. My suggestion, for $50 find another app!
