What does this app actually do?

Push button - zzzzzappp - makes record of number close to 50Hz with date and time.
Where is that reading coming from?
Went to the website and found no info about the app.
In US, not UK, does that matter?

So why do the noises in the app sound like 60Hz & harmonics?

I'm not in a position to judge the accuracy of this apps readings, but I know the sounds generated by 60Hz electricity when I hear them...
