Best Mac Virus Scanner

I was having an issue with popups in my browser when going to certain sites. Went so far as to wipe out my hard drive and did a complete clean install. Went to one of the sites and dang if those popups didn’t start plaguing me immediately. Started to research online but everything they said to do I had already tried. I downloaded, purchased and ran a bunch of different antivirus apps. Avira, avast, mackeeper, clamv, bit defender, komros and several others and they never found anything. I was going through my purchased apps when I saw VirusBarrier Express in the list. I had downloaded it when I got my macbook in 2014. I redownloaded it and ran a scan. Well guess what? VBE found a file buried in a content folder that was infected. It was a jpg file from a game that I had downloaded and was stored on my secondary partition. I followed the path that VBE gave at the end of the scan and deleted the file. I am not having anymore issues with popups at this time. I just want to say that this virus scanner found what big name ones were not able to find. Thank you the app for the amazing virus scanner. I will continue to use your products. I have recently downloaded the newer version. I will keep both just in case. If I could give you a 10 star I would.
Easy to use

I like this app. I had been looking for a free app to use for virus protection. I had wanted to remove some apps that I suspected of malware when i got my mac but wasn’t able to remove them. With this app it popped as malware and I was able to delete it finally (after a year of having my iMac). I’m still a new Mac user, being a first time user, and am still in the process of learning the Mac system. (I was a windows user for many years and always used Norton Anti-Virus on the regular.) When I switched to my iMac for my desktop I was completely under the impression that Mac needed no virus protection. But, the virus protection that came with the system, wanted me to pay for it and found many viruses. I’m like no, you’re not sucking money out of me. I enjoy this app (even though I’ve only used it for about 20 minutes now). My Dell windows laptop finaly gave out (only after 4 years, the wireless card is fried which is connected to the harddrive and it will be easier to buy a new laptop, I will be going with Mac when I do), but until I can buy a new laptop, I am using my desktop as my full time computer. With that being said, I feel like I need some protection. Long story short, I would definitely install this app. I am very happy with it! THANKS!
Great App, Fantastic Customer Support

Downloaded this app last week to help me get rid of malware when I noticed that my browser settings had been altered. It did an incredibly thorough scan and quarantined several files I was able to delete easily. Others, however, were listed as "Infected," and I was not able to delete them through the Virus Scanner interface, so I went to the the app website and started chatting with customer service. Without charging me ANYTHING, the customer service rep prompted me to email him a screenshot of my desktop and then the infecting files themselves, and then walked me (via email) through beefing up the Virus Scanner's access so it could override the malware. I'm still amazed, days later, that this app and *especially* its developer's fantastic customer service were offered free. Free!! One of my best app experiences to date. Highly recommended.
nice running virus scanner

I have been using this for about a month, now. I got it after I got a pop up looking like an apple page telling me I had a virus of some kind. The page looked lagit. When you would click on the home page nothing happened. I got a funny feeling about it and went to the app store and read the reviews and this one had great reviews so I got it. This app found one malware on my computer. Sometimes I think it makes my MAC a little slow when running mulitple things. No big deal, this app only runs once a week late at night. I imagain in the future they will give me a chance to up grade to a newer program at a cost. I think, I would do it based on my experince with this free app. I also bought Adware Doctor to clean my browser. It cleans your cookies and looks into other items. They had it on sale for $4.00 I think its time for MAC users to start using products likes these. I have had Apple for over 15 years.
