What is SmartSDR?

SmartSDR is an official FlexRadio Systems® client that allows users to operate their FlexRadio device using their iPad or iPhone. It is compatible with SmartSDR v1, v2 (including SmartLink), and v3 (including MultiFlex and SmartControl). The app requires a FlexRadio Systems® Series-6000 Software Defined Radio (SDR) Device, but it also contains a FlexRadio Simulator (Demo Mode) for users to try the app without owning a FlexRadio.

Software Features and Description

1. SmartSDR is a full featured radio client that enables your iPad or iPhone to operate your FlexRadio device.

2. Please note: This App requires a FlexRadio Systems® Series-6000 Software Defined Radio (SDR) Device.

3. The App supports Splitscreen Multitasking on the newer iPads so you can run SmartSDR in split mode parallel to your browser, Email software or any other App.

4. PLEASE NOTE: The Demo Mode audio is by far not as good as when connecting the App to a real FlexRadio.

5. ■ Direct Bandwidth selection, Split Mode, instant Memory creation and more.

6. It is fully compatible to SmartSDR v1, v2 (including SmartLink) and v3 (including MultiFlex and SmartControl).

7. ■ HomeKit support to control radio, antenna switches etc.

8. However, the App also contains a FlexRadio Simulator (Demo Mode) so you can try this App even without owning a FlexRadio.

9. For Remote operation via SmartLink™ a Version 2 License is required for your Radio.

10. For HomeKit, you can use any Power Plug or Switch that are HomeKit compatible.

Install SmartSDR™ - FlexRadio Systems® app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using SmartSDR on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "SmartSDR"
The search will reveal the SmartSDR™ - FlexRadio Systems® app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once SmartSDR is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including SmartSDR.
Now enjoy SmartSDR on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use SmartSDR,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "SmartSDR" » then Click "Install".
- SmartSDR™ - FlexRadio Systems® will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

Requirements:

- A FlexRadio Systems® FLEX-6000 series radio

- An Apple device such as an iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch which needs to run at least iOS 14

- A newer iPad (Air 2 or newer) or iPhone (7 or better) is recommended

Network Requirements:

- A regular WiFi connection is needed that can access your FLEX-6000 to run the app at home

- A Version 2 License is required for your Radio for remote operation via SmartLink™

The Premier Flex 6000 client!

this app iOS is becoming the Premier Flex 6000 client. I use it every day on all my iOS devices even when at the home QTH. This app works when the others fail. Now Marcus has brought FT8 native to iOS and it’s crazy easy to use! Software is the radio. Those who spent thousands for their radios and won’t spring for this app iOS are just plain missing out. Designed to have the same look and feel as SSDR for Windows, loaded with exclusive features, consistent updates/improvements and excellent support from Marcus, the author. Just get it!

I’ve been using this app since It was first brought iout. I have used it to remote operate my flex 6700 from many countries around in the world Is truly amazing to be able to remotely control my ham radio station in California by either my iPhone or my iPad. It looks awesome on the iPad Pro. I specially like the fact that It has alternate color schemes so that my poor old eyes can actually see the meters. And I specially like the fact that it has DX spots on the display. Spots on the display really speed up my workflow when trying to find DX Bottom line this is probably the coolest way to use ham radio remotely

The new FT8 mode inside the app is great. The support is fantastic and the developer is very responsive to feedback and bug reports. While extra features are paid upgrades, they are very worth it. Now i wait for the FT8 mode on my iPhone. :)
