  • I expect better

    By Cskizzle007 (Pcmac user)

After buying our 2019 Forester, I was disappointed to see how poorly done this app is. The UI is clunky and outdated and, sadly, looks like it belongs on my iPod touch from when I was 12 years old. Does the app work? Yes, sometimes. In between kicking you out because of your “expired session,” which may last either 10 minutes or 10 seconds. Considering the fact that we had to pay extra for the added functionality this app provides, I almost feel insulted. Further attention needs to be given to development, because in its current state I will NOT be renewing my subscription. As a Subaru Ambassador, I am embarrassed to even mention the app because it’s so weak. Subaru, please take some pride in your app in the same way you take pride in your vehicles. It reflects the company in a poor light. I rated two stars instead of one only because I was able to force the app to unlock my car so I could get my glasses today...
  • Shocked at how bad this app runs

    By SemiC0L0N (Pcmac user)

Imagine the year is 2009, the iPhone is relatively new, as is the App Store. Think of the look and functionality of those early apps. That’s the way this app feels. Subaru has spent very little time on my this app look good or function as intended. Little things that probably should have been fixed a long time ago. Like when you start your vehicle and the 10 min timer runs out - the app crashes every time you try to restart the car because it thinks you are trying to stop the engine. So you have to close the app and reopen it just to restart the car. The iPhone X and it’s different screen resolution has been out for about a year and a half now, yet Subaru hasn’t felt the need to update this simple cosmetic fix. These are just a few of the problems with this app. Subaru, I love my Crosstrek, but I feel cheated that I paid $75 for the functionality of this app and it feels like an afterthought that you can’t be bothered to update or fix. I will NOT be renewing my subscription when it expires.
  • Cheap, outsourced app

    By DerwP (Pcmac user)

The design for this app was rushed and it shows. Need to access Messages or Vehicle Health? Keep tapping back until you get to the home screen because neither are in “Menu.” Need to access settings? It’s hidden on the bottom of the page in Starlink. Need to tap on that button on the bottom of the screen? Hope you didn’t queue up a command for your vehicle as that will cover it up and you’ll have to wait for that command to succeed or fail. Oh and you’ll have to remember a pin number because Subaru didn’t want to spend the extra $ to implement TouchID or FaceID security like every other app. Safari Passwords won’t work, either. It’s not a wonder when the app breaks, because it isn’t designed or built by a proper app developer. It’ll unlock your car sometimes, yeah, if the stars align and if you can find the right screen.
  • This app is trash

    By Dread34 (Pcmac user)

Just like most of the other reviewers, we have nothing but issue with this app. Load times are incredibly slow and we get “Network error” nearly daily. Our primary use for the app is remote car start (since Subaru doesn’t include that on the key fob and requires use of the app with a paid subscription). Winter hit just 2 weeks after purchase of the vehicle and morning temperatures around here are already below freezing and the app won’t let us remote start the car. Infuriating. First car we’ve owned with this ability and we can’t even use it most days. What’s the point? As first time Subaru owners we’re highly disappointed. Great car so far, but many of its features are rendered useless due to a poorly made and poorly supported app. When you consider this is a PAID service only useable through the app it’s especially mind boggling and feels like Subaru doesn’t care about their customers or customer vehicle ownership satisfaction.
