  • Frustrating issues especially with Apple Watch

By staring at the screen (Pcmac user)

I love my the app but there are a number of frustrating issues with this app, some of them new in the most recent revision, I believe. First, I'm no longer getting haptic (vibrating) alerts on my Apple Watch (series 3 with watch OS 4.2.2). I have tried different settings - both do not disturb and without, and having the sound on and off - but unless I'm missing something, the haptics are broken. I do get the app alerts on the watch, but they are visual only. Which is frustrating, since the haptic element is extremely valuable! Also, as other people have said, it is bizarre that dismissing alerts on the watch seems to do nothing on the phone - this needs to be fixed. If you dismiss an alert on the watch, it should communicate with the app instead of having to drag out the phone to avoid constant watch alerts. In addition, the inability to silence the urgent low alarm is a problem - it needs to be vibrate only. As an attorney, I am sometimes in court where if my phone went off, there could be professional consequences! Finally, a relatively minor issue, but if I'm listening to a podcast using the Overcast app, when I open the the app app on my phone, the podcast stops playing. (I have the the app app on the "alerts do not sound" setting.)
  • Has good potential but needs improvement

    By tlbarr1 (Pcmac user)

Diabetes is the second cause of blindness, Second only two glaucoma. Accordingly, using the the app apps with the built-in voiceover screen reader with an iPhone. Which begs the question, why is the the app Ap not better designed for blind users using the built-in voiceover iPhone app? The apps are barely usable with voiceover, but needs labeling of buttons, alerts should automatically declare what they are and what the blood sugar level is currently running to deserve the alert; so that a diabetic can determine whether something needs to be done immediately or later on without having to resort to stopping to get the phone out and look to find out what is going on, as well as make the items most used available from the main screen of the app rather than having to go to other menus to find out what is needed. These are a few of many bugs which demand immediate attention. I love what this invention does and could potentially do for all diabetics whether visually impaired or not or use an Apple Watch. even a blind diabetic can use this app to maintain a constant blood sugar, but still could be improved so that average non-screen reader users can use the app in the dark without assistance. If the alerts spoke The low blood sugar levels automatically, that would cure many ills with the the app apps in my experienced. These ideas should be easily and quickly implemented into the the app app programming.
  • Inadequate, Inexcusable, Underdeveloped Mess

    By cgm92 (Pcmac user)

I want to love the app, but the phone app is disastrous, inadequate mess. 1) The button to update your blood sugar keeps disappearing, I have to wait until whenever the button returns and re-test, wasting strips. I have to walk around uncalibrated with inaccurate numbers at least four days a week due to this. 2) Almost all test machines give readings up to 500 or 600, the app only goes to 400. Sometimes I have no idea what my blood sugar is because the app just says "high." The scale MUST go to at least 500, it simply doesn't match to other products in the industry and people like me with recurrent hyperglycemia really need that information. 3) The fact that you can only set 100 as your urgent low is AWFUL. I drop super quickly, if I find out I'm low at 100, I have roughly five minutes to correct that before I become incapacitated. the app needs to allow users to set their low alert wherever they need it. It's not inclusive to create software only for well controlled people. This has been the biggest disappointment of the the app and it almost defeats the purpose of having I. I only know what's happening once it's already dangerous. Why even have it? 4) Also, I know the paper in the sensor packages states the missing alarm for quick drops and urgent lows is fixed, but I still have this problem. the app is SO PERSISTENT about highs and so touch and go about lows, which need more urgent addressing! Inexcusable.
  • The app is helpful, but alarms are useless at night

    By Hug-a-pug (Pcmac user)

During the day, it is easy to hear alarms. It is super helpful to have my phone make noise to alert me of a problem with my blood sugar. It makes day-to-day activities a lot easier not having to check my sugars every five minutes. However, I am a pretty deep sleeper. I feel the alarms should be able to wake me up in the middle of the night if I am super high or low. They need to be louder and more consistent. This could definitely be a feature that you could turn on for specific hours of the day so that you have normal alarms for most of the day and louder ones at night. I am finding a large issue with not waking up because I feel it is completely necessary to be woken up with bad blood sugar as opposed to waiting through the night and waking up with either Ketones or a shaky hand feeling like I may pass out (side effects of high and low sugar). Other than this issue, I think the app has really impacted my life as a person with diabetes and has made going about my day a lot easier. Thank you!
