Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Costs a lot, barely works

    By DaveB88 (Pcmac user)

If you want to spend $5 to get really frustrated by an app during the already stressful process of delivering a speech, look no further. This app will make you shout at your phone. What could be more fun?
  • Limited functionality

    By Sammy 155465 (Pcmac user)

Biggest gripe is not being able to swipe up to down to move from card to card. Awkward to swipe to right with one’s left thumb. Overpriced app.
  • Good effort - but not good enough

    By PJAweh (Pcmac user)

It looks really great but isn't any better than any normal cue cards app. Yes, you can set the time and it will tell you where you should be in your speech based on your set time. But the problem is that it doesn't allow you to time your speech in the app. This means that if you say your speech is 4 minutes and you have 8 notes (cue cards) it will just divide that 4 minutes into 8 pieces of 30 seconds each. The problem with this is that your first one may be a minute and your last 10 seconds. It should let you time the speech as you say it in the app and time how much time it takes for you to say your whole speech as well as each note. It should also be universal because many cannot read the text on an iPhone and will want the bigger screen of the iPad. Using the iPhone app on the iPad isn't useful because you want to use it in landscape, not portrait and it doesn't give you this option. Unless they fix these issues and actually make this app as good as it can and should be it should never be worth $8. A this stage it's not even worth $1. Very disappointed. It has a lot of potential and can be an awesome app.
  • Finally a decent cue card app

    By langhorn123 (Pcmac user)

The category of cue card apps is full of lousy half baked efforts. Finally someone has taken the time to do it right. This app is elegant and simple, and very well thought out for its purpose. You can tell they designed it to perform well under pressure, where you haven't got much time to think. You can enter speaker's notes in the app. I find the iPhone keyboard a bit tricky for entering lots of text, so I think I will usually opt for importing a text file from an email. (Running the app on the iPad is probably better for this, but I haven't tried it yet.) The presentation mode seems solid too. You just swipe left and right. There is a green bar showing how far through the slides you are, and a red stripe that moves with time. You just try to keep them close together to stay on time. Simple, but appropriate. I think this is a great start. Would love to have import from keynote, but I can live with text for now.
