Download and install Weather Underground on your Laptop or Desktop computer

If you want to install and use the Weather Underground app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use this app for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Weather Underground in the search bar and press Search. Click on Weather Undergroundapplication icon. A window of Weather Underground on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use Weather Underground for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

  • Still a good app

My company’s business, we’re log restoration guys, revolves 100% around weather conditions. We have been through multiple weather apps over the years, and Weather Underground has always been our fallback when the others failed. When WU released STORM we were thrilled! It had everything we needed, and was extremely accurate. Then The the Weather Channel bought them and as with everything they touch, Storm went to crap. Their version of Storm is tedious, not as accurate, and doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles we had with the original. We understand capitalism, heck we’re waiting on a large conglomerate to buy us, but we need an accurate weather app. The existing, basic, WU app doesn’t have all the content that Storm had, but they don’t seem to have screwed have it . . . yet . . . and is the best still for accuracy.
  • Best weather app

I absolutely *adore* this weather app. I love that I can choose local weather stations that private individuals have set up, and I also can choose multiple weather stations near (blocks away, and in different directions from) where I live. SF Bay Area microclimates are really difficult to deal with, lan for,,and dress for — unless you use the Wunderground weather app. I love the accuracy of their weather-now data an& hourly forecasts. When I have Wunderground running, as well as other weather apps, 95 % of the time or more, Wunderground data is much more accurate than the other other weather apps. I love that I can get daily & hourly forecasts, as well as detailed info rain/precipitation; wind speed & direction,; moon phases including new, half, & full moon dates; & more. I love that I can set up a home location; & also can have multiple other cities that I frequently visit. I love that there Windergrojnd has both an pp and widgets. And I love l that I can choose a dark background or light background. My only suggestions / constructive criticisms / suggestions are: 1. the way one must access the non-home lovcstions could be more intuitive; and 2. the service outages, though not often, happen more than I would like. But when thevoutages occur the inadequacies of other weather apps and the lack of features and data are always a great reminder of why Wunderground is such a great weather app.

Have zero clue what the deal is but I’ve noticed in the last couple months, my settings change or I have to reset them, same with my location. Which I had to do again today. The current weather is totally in accurate, temperatures are off by as much as 10 degrees. Last week through an entire thunderstorm it said “Clear” and today, during a decent fog, also says “Clear”. I normally use three weather apps to get a more accurate idea of what to expect and to be sure I get hazardous weather warnings, and I’m glad because this app has dropped that ball a few times. This used to be my go-to app that I recommended all the time. Not so much anymore and I sincerely apologize to those whom I have. I’m using The Weather Channel now as my main, with WeatherBug as a back up, and glad for it. The ONLY two things I like about this is it gives me the “Feels like”, which who knows if it’s truly accurate, and how many hours in the day because I keep track of that as a gardener. Would be willing to bet there’s an app for that, so then I’d be down to just one.
  • Best I’ve Tried

This gives you real time weather alerts almost as soon as it’s issued from the National Weather Service. It also tells you if it’s going to rain at a certain time. Weather bug and Weather Channel only tell you about alerts if you have the app open and are using it. Big disappointment. Deleted them. This has a text type alert tone and banner but it’s not obtrusive. I also like the weather instrument readings if you are more into forecasting, such as barometer reading, wind direction. You have the option of checking out weather station readings for operators in your neighborhood! Another good one is 1Weather. They both have frequent updates and storm tracking. Highly recommend! I’ve had several NIAA weather radios that didn’t work. This is reliable all the time and I always have my phone with me. It tracks along with me when I’m away from home at various job sites.

This app is hands-down the absolute best weather app out there! When I heard about all the changes with the weather underground I started looking for another way to find my weather. After a week of searching and testing of numerous other apps (and regrettably paying for a couple of them 😡), I have found my way back to Weather Underground. I just can’t get around how complete and perfect it is! I always found myself comparing other apps to it. I was sad to see the storm and lightning tracker disappear and felt that it was getting closer and closer to weather underground disappearing all together. Please know this is pretty much perfect in my book! If you could find a way to integrate the storm and lightning into the original app it would be perfect! Please don’t stop improving this app with updates and what not! Even with all the recent changes I’m still reading it 5 stars!
  • No official weather obs available?

    by iPad Paul
This app has an excellent design. It has a lot of weather forecast data presented in way that is easy to comprehend and it all fits nicely on the screen. Kudos to the designers. They seemed to have solved their problem with the overloaded servers: forecasts load mostly reliably and quickly. Perhaps they were just overloaded for a while with people abandoning BeWeather and Dark Sky and switching to WU. Unfortunately, and inexplicably, this app has no choices for official weather observation stations. I can only choose PWSs. The PWS closest to me is woefully inaccurate. It will report winds at zero to a few knots while it is actually howling, and the local airport is reporting winds at 20 to 30 knots. And the PWS reports temps far above reality. My guess is that it’s on someone’s back porch. Other PWSs near me have at least one major data point that is dubious. I understand the desire to have all the PWSs available as options, but I do not understand WU’s decision to exclude official weather observations.
  • Works for me

However, the closet station is 3 blocks from my house. My reason for using this app is not anywhere as important as the reviews I read. But after the company that supported online data for my weather station decided to stop that support to force you to buy new piece equipment to continue with the online data, I started using this app everyday for my record keeping. The nearest WU station is 3 blocks away. One of my hobbies is to keep daily record of the high and low temperatures. This app allows me to go back and check the previous days temperatures. My reason for using this app is obviously not crucial as the reviews I read. But to be able to go back to the previous day is something that I don’t find with other apps and I use it to collaborate with my weather station and multiple sensor devices. So, that’s the reason for 5 stars.

Update Apr 2019 Down to 3 stars. Slow and some times nonexistent connection to server. Update, Sep 2015: Back to 4 stars. WU fixed a number of bugs and the speed is a bit faster. Still miss that icon badge. Update, April 2015: Dropped to 3 stars. I'm ok with the v5 interface. The forecast graph has gotten better with it's precipitation inheritance from the v4 widget. But here's where WU losses another star: Still no temperature icon badge, the new notification widget is unreliable for current conditions, and the radar preview window is clogged with personal weather station data to where the actual radar is nearly impossible to see. Question to WU: Who is gathering Voice of Customer? Update, Feb 2015: Dropped to 4 stars. I sent an enhancement request for an icon badge for current temp. Their response was "no plans to add". Wait a second, this is a weather app. Why would a developer of a weather app not have plans to provide the current temperature in an icon badge? --- This is the first and only app that I subscribe to. At $2 a year to remove ads, it's a great deal. I discovered recently that Intellicast get's it's data from WU. So I decided to go straight to the source. Clean and intuitive interface makes this one of my top shelf apps. A word of warning: Be wary of PWS (personal weather stations) when setting your custom location. Not all PWS's have accurate data. Chose a local airport or NWS station for best results.
  • this app is going steadily downhill

Update 8/7/19: The warnings issue below was fixed a while ago, but with each update there are new issues. Requiring users to have location data on is absolute lunacy. The point of the app becomes our phones working for them. In exchange they offer a terrible product. The weather predictions are worse than most (and used to be better than most), and the app has low user functionality. Most of us have locations where we live, work, play and want the weather from those spots. Nope. The app swipes away your latest location anytime you switch away from it as the main screen. Note that the latest update is supposed to have fixed this issue but has not. Shame on you guys. Previous review: Since the new update my weather warnings are messed up between locations. I'm seeing small craft advisories and gale warnings inland, and the storm warnings from inland are associated with my coastal favorite locations. Otherwise the app is great.

I’ve only started using this as my go to weather app for about a week, but I certainly have no complaints. I’ve wanted to start utilizing my widgets more because why not? That’s what they are for & I don’t use that feature of my phone much and I really like how this app will let you customize that. You can access only the radar from the widget screen or you can access both the radar and the actual forecast for your area. I can’t knock the weather app that was originally on my phone because I didn’t use it much at all, but weather underground is 👌🏼 & if you are someone considering switching to it, I would have to recommend that you do. You won’t be disappointed unless you are someone who likes to check the weather & get cussed out. WU won’t do that. Or at least not yet 😏
