What is iControlAV?

iControlAV is a unique app developed by Pioneer Home Electronics that allows users to control their Pioneer AV Receiver and BD Player with their iPhone or iPod Touch. The app offers four screen modes that provide complete control over the sound tuning and switching capabilities of the receiver. The app also includes various sound enhancement features that can be accessed through the Precision mode.

Software Features and Description

Download an Android emulator for PC:

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using iControlAV on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "iControlAV"
The search will reveal the iControlAV app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once iControlAV is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including iControlAV.
Now enjoy iControlAV on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use iControlAV,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "iControlAV" » then Click "Install".
- iControlAV will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

- Balance and Emphasis modes for virtual motion adaptive functions that allow users to change the "sweet-spot" of their home theater

- Independent adjustment of the volume of the center speaker or subwoofer by tilting the iPhone or iPod Touch

- Works on iOS 10 with older models like VSX-1020

- Provides basic features like input and volume control, audio surround post-processing, and I/O monitoring

☹ Cons:

- Different app required for every generation of receiver

- Cannot use newer iAVcontrol apps with claimed "future-ready" receiver 1120-k

- Routine features like operating radio and playing songs stored on home media server are not user-friendly

- Precision adjustment becomes useless in such cases

- Expensive system compared to cheaper alternatives

- Customer service has no plans to update this version of the app

- Incrementing app versions to combat negative reviews instead of addressing customer concerns

- VSX 33 has been abandoned.

Fixed the task manager and core motion API bug!!!

As of today they finally fixed the bug with multitasking and motion on emphasis and balance! They also updated the UI for iPhone 5/c/s. Still only gets four stars for having a different app with every generation of receiver. This receiver 1120-k claimed to be "future-ready" Yet, I cannot use any of the newer iAVcontrol apps with it. Seems like it would be cheaper to update one app than maintain several versions.

I'm amazed that this app still works on iOS 10 with my almost 7-year-old VSX-1020. All of the basics are there: input and volume control, audio surround post-processing, and I/O monitoring. Thank you for providing an app that has worked for me for so many years.
Killing a fly with a gun

Before giving complex tools related to sound adjustment, the developer should make routine features user friendly. I cant figure out how to operate radio and play songs stored on my home media server. In that case , the precision adjustment goes useless. A cheaper system at 1/10 th of the cost would have been more satisfying. I got ripped off by pioneer. Never again will I buy pioneer.

After contacting customer service several times there aren't plans to update this version of the app. To combat negative reviews for abandoning customers they are incrementing app versions. This is completely unacceptable and at the very least they could open up the app platform so that consumers can build apps to fill the gap. VSX 33 abandoned.
