  • No thanks for now

The original Airmail had some great features but was also struggling in terms of quality. I stopped using it after a while because it lost drafts and its message composer was a mess. I was glad to see the team decided to start over and I’m sure that with the lessons learned from the first edition they’ll build something great, but this initial version is the barest of bare minimums. The original had a robust set of actions that worked with a variety of apps and services to help process email into actionable items or turn messages into useful notes, etc. This edition lets you swipe to archive or delete messages. There are no other actions. It trails other the app apps that have come along since the original Airmail by a great deal. I’m sure a ground-up rewrite in a new framework is an accomplishment for the developers, but I don’t see what this does for me that I don’t get from the Gmail app, Apple’s this app, or something like Spark, which all exceed it in features. I may keep this tucked away in a utility folder to see if it progresses, but I can’t see using it day to day until some of the original features—especially all the actions—go back in.
  • It's a start...

    By sethadam1 (Pcmac user)

Let me start by saying I own and have used Airmail, Airmail 2, and Airmail 3. Aside from the fact that I've paid for them all and I've got subscription fatigue, this client offers nothing unique, so I can't see why I'd pay for it. So far you can't configure swipes, the actions from Airmail aren't there, etc. This really isn't a full client and it surely isn't worth more per year than Airmail 3 is perpetually. Also, there are free clients that are far better and this one struggles to set itself apart. That said, it's far prettier than AM3 and "feels" more iOS-like, so I'm hopeful this evolves into something better. I had started using Edison Mall as my primary after getting crushed with the aging look and feel of v3. It's a good start, bit more of a beta than a proper app. The free version is far too hobbled. I mean... no notifications?! I can't recommend this to anyone, paid or not, right now. But good luck to the team on evolving this!
  • No more subscriptions

    By R4z3rsPar4d0x (Pcmac user)

For something like an email client I just can’t bring myself to pay a subscription. This is amplified by Bloop’s track record on the last airmail for iOS application which got updates every 3-6 months if you were lucky, and never got core features people asked for like dark mode. Overall, this is too little, too late for too much.
  • Can’t handle another subscription.

    By Track 40 (Pcmac user)

I already own every version of Airmail. On both Mac and iOS. I’m not paying any more without a major evolution in either UI or functionality. Right now, the app is missing half the functionality that already exists in Airmail... is this the new Kickstarter?
