  • Lots of functionality missing

    By AppleTechy54 (Pcmac user)

It’s nice to see an official app rather than using a web clip to access ScoutBook. However a lot of the functionality still isn’t there. Some of the major things that need to be added first would be calendar support added and integration into the native Calendar app would be awesome. Another major thing missing is I don’t have access to was the contact info of Troop members and the ability to send messages via the app. Another huge thing missing is support for Face-ID, it’s rather annoying to have to go lookup my password every time when you support Touch ID which is now older biometric security. Overall I think the app is moving in the right direction but needs to have a lot more functionality added to its since it’s still faster for me to just login into the website and do whatever I need, since a lot of stuff isn’t supported in the app. * I understand this is just a beta and am more than happy to revise my review at a later date once more functionality is added.
  • The material in this app is great, but a few minor bugs.

    By Crguede1 (Pcmac user)

This app is a great idea, and the constant updates are awesome. I really appreciate the ease of access it allows for simply checking up on requirements. One minor bug though is that the data and percentages on rank and merit badge completion are not synchronized with Scoutbook. Another minor problem is that when you update a requirement that was completed offline, it doesn’t transfer over when you become online again. Overall, this app is great and I really love its progress from the beta version. All I ask is that the developers keep on rolling out the updates and the useful features that come with them (and fix some bugs of course). I haven't checked the most recent update in depth yet, so I am not sure if the above bugs have been resolved or not.
  • Committee member, NYLT CO-director, Wood Badge Staff twice, Sea Badge

    By Rob Gregkry (Pcmac user)

Thank you for the Dark Screen, it really helps!! My 3 sons have been in Ship 564 since March ‘19, not what’s listed in Scoutbook. Christopher and Dylan are Eagles, but Scout Book doesn’t say that, as far as I can find. All 3 of my sons, Dylan Chris and Mathew Staffed NYLT In December 2018, and took NYLT as participants back in 2016-not listed in Scoutbook, that I found so far. All 3 sons and I, are Lifeguards (Red Cross and BSA. Could this be part of the record? Dylan , Chris and I are also Red Cross WSI and LGI (Lifeguard Instructors/CPR/AED Instructors for The Professional Rescuers). Could this be also listed, since the BSA camps often request our certifications when we work at various camps. Also, Sea Scout Advancement record: Sea Scouts are allowed to be signed-off on any requirement, Apprentice, Ordinary, AB, or Quartermaster, in any order, regardless of their rank. (Guide to Advancement). Apprentices May be signed-off on requirements for Quartermaster or AB whenever they are ready. Currently, the software states incorrectly that sea Scouts May only work on their next rank. Please change the program to allow Sea Scouts to be signed off for any requirement, regardless of their rank. Thank you for your patience with us as we learn your program.
  • Poor App!

    By Toitle (Pcmac user)

Rather than contacting units to find out what we need, BSA appears to have once again decided they would tell us what we are going to get. This does NOT replace other applications for troop tracking and advancement. You cannot pull board of review reports, and worse, there is no single report to pull for a time range. If you hold Court of Honors every three months, you must look at each boy to determine what he has earned during the period as opposed to pulling a report for a time period. For a small troop, this may work. But for large troops of more than a dozen active boys, this will bee very time consuming and the Advancement Chair WILL miss something. His only option is if he is the final approved and then manually tracks each award in a Word document or spreadsheet. From a financial tracking perspective, our treasurer (and accountant) refuses to use this app because of issues he has with control of those sections.
