Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Exceedingly useful

    By Moze45 (Pcmac user)

I’ve read critical reviews, but I cannot corroborate the issues. If you format a script according to industry standard, use of the app couldn’t be easier. Of course what’s at the core is the hearing sides read in different voices. That gets at composition, and that’s where the power of this app lies. If you want to write plays or screen plays, this app is a must-have compositional aid.
  • Unusable

    By KitKatKyr (Pcmac user)

I tried to use this app even with the pro version and it was terrible. First off, very clunky interface that loves to give you a hard time. Second, the reader skips the first page of my script AND multiple sections within. Third, the voices. It’s hard trying to pick a voice for your cast when you can’t preview them and also every time you set a voice it goes right back to the script even if you want to set the whole cast. Better off using a general text to speech reader, unfortunately.
  • Beware

    By DFWRiterMan (Pcmac user)

This app is glitchy. Constantly freezes slow to carry out settings. Character assignments are faulty. I have pro version and it is not worth it.
  • Music to my ears

    By MisterSparkle (Pcmac user)

I love this app. Sure, there are a few bugs, but getting the chance to hear your movie read aloud with a background score is priceless. I catch so many more things when I listen to a read through with the app as opposed to reading it myself. The voices are pretty good, but I've found that the robotic-ness actually helps. If you can stomach your dialogue when spoken by robots then you're probably writing pretty good dialogue. Bad dialogue sticks out like a sore thumb :) Tip: - spend lots of time assigning voices but save often (by going to the menu and back) to avoid losing data if the app crashes. Suggestions for future updates: - FDX import - create timing rules for screenplay specific punctuation like "--" or "..." - music cues! I would love to be able to assign a music cue to begin when the narrator reads specific scene heading. It would be awesome if you could stop the music when the narrator reaches another specified scene heading. Update or no update. I'm going to continue using this app like crazy.
