Software Features and Description

1. The live view shows the incoming signal (from the device microphone or external sensors) and you can push the HOLD button at any time to freeze the waveform.

2. Pushing the FFT button enters the frequency display screen, where the incoming waveform is split into its constituent frequencies.

3. Then push the TRIGGER button and the app will scan the incoming signal and freeze the signal when the trigger level is reached.

4. This mode outputs a sine wave sweeping smoothly through the frequency range over a full minute, and analysing the resulting input signal.

5. When the waveform is frozen, pushing the HOLD button saves it to the background, displayed in yellow.

6. Set the trigger level by swiping up and down in the waveform display area.

7. When zoomed in to a waveform, swiping left/right in the display lets you move around the sample.

8. If you have a saved yellow wave, swiping left/right at the top of the display area moves the yellow sample independently.

9. The screen is calibrated with a vertical line for every 2000Hz increment, so it's easy to see at a glance with frequencies are present in the signal.

10. If you want to identify the most prominent frequency automatically, just push the DETECT button.

11. This is very useful when setting up live sound, letting you know exactly which EQ band needs to be reduced to stop feedback etc.

  • So cool, reminds me of EE school

    By ncnoman (Pcmac user)

If your an EE geek you can get a kick for days. Like your professor letting you into the lab on a weekend. Probably useful for audio too. Totally reminds me of those HP oscilloscopes .... Would be nice tho if you could hold the FFT and also it gets buggy when moving Y axis during a sine sweep
  • No Time Axis ???

    By ddvw (Pcmac user)

This may have already been mentioned in an earlier review, but the horizontal axis is unlabeled, so the utility of this tool is little better than Oscillo, and other free apps. If a real EE had any say in the design of this app, how could they leave the time axis unlabeled??
  • Scale labels too small

    By Hyd. Engr (Pcmac user)

Looks cool, but tiny scale labels are not readable. FFT would be very handy if I could see the frequency labels. The plot can be zoomed bigger, but labels stay too small. Consider bigger text or allow two finger zoom in like other apps. Couldn't get trigger or hold to work. Is there a manual?
  • Waste of .99

    By mhgwest (Pcmac user)

Not even remotely intuitive. No manual, no info or help page. Somehow I managed to get it to generate a signal that eventually freaked my cat out enough to cause her running from the room in fear. Perhaps it should be sold as a pet torture device rather than an oscilloscope.
