AC-7 Core for Pc

First of all, this did not connect so easily to my MacPro. Seems a step was left out in the instructions. Ie, besides following the instructions given, you must also select a network input and output port in the audiomidi network dialogue box. I chose what I believe was network 1 for both. It wouldn't work if I left it blank so word up, if you did everything according to the instructions and are still stuck, try this. I still had to reboot the iPad after that to get this thing to work. Performance was sluggish at first but improved a little over time. Still, it wasn't fast enough to be useful. I suspect a wired connection might solve the issue but then you could run out of battery as this seems to be a power hog. Also the manual is very basic and doesn't help if you never had experience with the Mackie control. I wrote the guy concerning this and so far haven't heard back from him. I'm using DP 7.24 and for my session yesterday, went back to the free MOTU free wifi app that works flawlessly, although I wish motu would write an iPad version. But I digress. I think this app has a lot of potential. I Look forward to the next version, hopefully there will be some bug fixes to smooth out performance issues. And please write a complete manual.

Nice looking interface but everything else is just trouble. To start, seems like the only way I can get this to reliably work each time is to do a complete hard reset on the iPad then reconnect the device in the MBP Audio/MIDI network settings. Otherwise the AC-7 will not be seen by DP 7.2. The rewind buttons in the transport act like a rewind scrub ... takes forever to get back to 00:00:00:00. Is there perhaps hot keys to speed this up ... anyones guess since anything deeper than faders and pan is not documented anywhere. Yes the developer has recently created a .PDF manual ... but right at the beginning it announces it will not be helping you, "Documenting all the functions would require a really thick book" DEVELOPERS OF THIS APP - people who will use this app are accustomed to digging into manuals to get the most out of their software ... Not documenting functions leads to frustration and negative reviews such as this. Nice idea, poor execution. Trust me - if you are a DP 7 user ... Don't bother with this app. DP Control is free and will provide the function you will end up using with this app with less frustration.

I am using AC-7 Core with Sonar X1 Producer. Overall the basic functionality I need is there; Faders, Arm, Solo, Mute, Pan and transport controls. Also, Sonar transmits level information for each channel to AC-7 which is nice. Now when I record my keyboard or guitar and I need to do a retake, I don't have to keep moving over to the computer. I have all the controls right at my fingertips no matter where I am in my studio. Be aware that just like buying any generic control surface, you will have to make some configuration changes to your software to take full advantage of all the features AC-7 core provides. But you will get pretty decent functionality right out of the box.

After I found out that the bluetooth function needed to be disabled, to allow it to communicate with my computer, I was up and running in no time. The fact that this program actually works is awesome especially for the price. Some improvements would make this app well worth more money but even as is, I put my digi003 control surface on craigslist because the control surface is all I was using it for, now I have a controller on my ipad which takes up far less real estate. The wireless capabilities make up for the slight latency issue. For the price, and the fact that it really works, this is an excellent app for pro audio. I will keep checking for updates.
