- The program is amazing and Black Magic has done an amazing job with it.

☹ Cons:

- The App Store version is not the same as the one purchased directly from Blackmagic.

- The App Store version does not include an activation key.

- You cannot use beta versions with this version.

- The location of the files needed to run Resolve is different in the App Store version, which can cause issues with previous sessions.

- This version is glitchy and crashes randomly more often than it should.

Apple App store version DOES NOT include an activation key. Wish this was clear when purchasing. Bought this for a job and they needed me to download the Beta (what everyone else working with on project). YOU CANNOT USE BETA WITH THIS VERSION. The program is amazing though. Black Magic has done an amazing job with this.

But this elsewhere, anywhere else. This is not the same studio version as you can get from other retailers. Also, you will not have access to beta versions. When BlackMagic does updates they put out beta version that are typically very stable and have a history of adding lots of functionality. They run with beta versions for months before the release version become available. Beta version become the standard for many in these periods. If you have this app store version you will be behind the times of other users until the release comes out. Blackmagic and Apple offer nothing to improve the situation. I will probably have to buy this twice.

I don't believe anyone is trying to actually misguide a potential buyer. You'll see reviewers claiming that this App Store version is not the same as the one you can purchase directly from Blackmagic. That information is incorrect. There is a difference between the two and it has to do with the location of the files needed to run Resolve. This App Store version places files and folders needed to run Resolve and third party plug-ins in the Users Library folder while the version purchased directly from Blackmagic places them in the startup disks main Library folder.

I was running the free version of the app resolve 15 for some time now and wanted to buy a perpetual license digitally, I found out the only way to do it was to buy it from the apple store. After making this purchase it came with immediate regret. Previous sessions I had made before was telling me certain media files were disconnected which made no sense because I didn’t move any of the source files. Secondly, this apple store version isn’t the full version. This version is extreme glitchy compared to the free version I had been using and it crashes randomly more often than it should. In about an hour of using it I counted about 4 crashes. I completely regret this purchase and I’m trying tooth and nail to get my refund. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SOFTWARE!
