Software Features and Description

1. ** No internet needed: Our proprietary coverage maps are stored within the app on your device - no downloading needed! Quickly access where you're supposed to get a signal, even when you have none.

2. The maps in 'Coverage?' are provided in partnership with Ookla, and represent proprietary interpretations of the coverage reported by each carrier.

3. We took a different approach with Coverage? - we needed a tool to at least give us an idea of where signal should be - urban, rural, and out in the boonies.

4. Save time looking up coverage on the carrier's websites, compare their claims head to head and better plan your travels to stay connected.

5. Coverage? focuses on helping mobile bandwidth junkies find cell signal as they roam.

6. The subscription fee will be charged to your iTunes account upon confirmation of purchase, and will automatically renew each year unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period.

7. Coverage does not report or predict signal strength (there are great apps out there for that!).

8. Current subscriptions may not be canceled during the active subscription period; however, you can manage your subscription and/or turn off auto-renewal by visiting your iTunes Account Settings after purchase.

9. ** The carrier's maps in your pocket: This app contains regional level maps based off of each major carrier's data map - as found on their website as of our last update.

10. ** Urban and rural areas: Maps are at a regional level, and cover the entire continental USA, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

11. Ongoing map updates have been free - but to support the ongoing development costs, we now allow customers to subscribe to higher resolution maps that will be updated more frequently.

  • 16-Aug-19: iOS 9 users, beware!

    By Cheapskate01 (Pcmac user)

Apparently, the this app maps provided are contained within the app, not downloaded on demand when accessing the app. The good news: You don't need cell data or an Internet connection to look at the this app maps. The bad news: The maps are updated only when the app is updated. (They have added a subscription service which might change that, but most of us use this app once in a blue moon, meaning that the subscription price would just not be worth it) (Think about it: When would you use this app? Only when traveling AND when you may be considering switching cell phone service) But that is a second piece of bad news: As of this writing (16-Aug-19), the current version of the app is for iOS 10. This means that those of us still using iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (iOS 9) are stuck with out-of-date this app maps. Given the structure of the app, I do not know how they could fix it, if they wanted to. I do know that, as a reference tool I might use once or twice a year, I do NOT want to get involved with a subscription service. On the other hand, on my iPhone SE, I fully expect that the this app maps are up-to-date. I just have to stop using the app on iPad 2.
  • Surprisingly useful

This is a great app I’ve used for years. I work for the cellular industry and am constantly surprised how accurate these maps are (knowing how the original source maps are created by the carrier). The developer is regularly updating the app (thanks for X support!) and has not implemented ads or other user unfriendly things. The upgrade subscription is the only additional thing some people like me would want. I’m slowly starting to accept subscription models as developers need a consistent revenue to fund their operations. Totally recommend for the curious and almost required for anyone in the cellular industry!
  • Fantastic and always updated!

    By Kleinias (Pcmac user)

This is the very definition of a 5 - star app. Useful and constantly updated every few months. I paid for this app years ago and it’s been updated regularly. Update: It's great that the developers are continually updating this application, they implementing useful features and this app is definitely worth a good look. Update: looks like the developers just updated the app to include AT&T 4G information. I'm hoping to see future updates with more detailed this app and even more importantly, roaming this app in Canada for Verizon & AT&T. This application does what it says and does it competently. Updates like more detail, higher resolution maps and a search function would be very helpful. Showing additional this app in Canada for AT&T and Verizon would also be useful. Hoping to see more updates soon!
  • Helped us decide.

    By Bbearmel (Pcmac user)

The app is extremely easy to use and allows you turn off and on different carriers and services. Allows you a quick visual of overlapping or nonexistent service for our great country. This app helped me sort through the complicated balance of what mobile phone carrier, considering this app and price would be best for my family for our particular needs. It most definitely saved and will continue to save us money by not overbuying a carrier service for our needs. When we begin our adventure later this year. Will be adding a second carrier service based on the research from this this app map. That information should help provide us with not only convenience, Internet comfort but also another amount of personal safety. Thank you. Mel & Linda
