Software Features and Description

1. ** No internet needed: Our proprietary coverage maps are stored within the app on your device - no downloading needed! Quickly access where you're supposed to get a signal, even when you have none.

2. The maps in 'Coverage?' are provided in partnership with Ookla, and represent proprietary interpretations of the coverage reported by each carrier.

3. We took a different approach with Coverage? - we needed a tool to at least give us an idea of where signal should be - urban, rural, and out in the boonies.

4. Save time looking up coverage on the carrier's websites, compare their claims head to head and better plan your travels to stay connected.

5. Coverage? focuses on helping mobile bandwidth junkies find cell signal as they roam.

6. The subscription fee will be charged to your iTunes account upon confirmation of purchase, and will automatically renew each year unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current subscription period.

7. Coverage does not report or predict signal strength (there are great apps out there for that!).

8. Current subscriptions may not be canceled during the active subscription period; however, you can manage your subscription and/or turn off auto-renewal by visiting your iTunes Account Settings after purchase.

9. ** The carrier's maps in your pocket: This app contains regional level maps based off of each major carrier's data map - as found on their website as of our last update.

10. ** Urban and rural areas: Maps are at a regional level, and cover the entire continental USA, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

11. Ongoing map updates have been free - but to support the ongoing development costs, we now allow customers to subscribe to higher resolution maps that will be updated more frequently.

  • How does it work?

    By Greencosmos (Pcmac user)

I saw one review saying it worked well. I don't understand.😥 it's a great idea though. For that I'll give it a 4.

Not clear in the product description is what the "trial period" is. On a "splash screen," the first time you use "the app? Lite," you are told it's THREE USES. For those three uses, you get the full "the app?" After that, the product description tells you that many (most?) of its features will "lock up." Bottom line: Based upon your needs, it may be worth your while to go straight to the $2.99 version of "the app?" and skip "the app? Lite." Good about this app is that the prices are clearly labeled: $2.99 for "the app?", and that's a one-time fee. They list $5.99 and $4.99 per year for the annual subscription. I suspect the $4.99 is the discount mentioned on the splash screen if you first pay $2.99 to "unlock" the app. Those with the annual subscription can expect to get updated maps more often (and in HD). So, what you need to decide is, just how are you going to use "the app?"? First, I would say that, as a one-time fee, the $2.99 is reasonable. The subscription fee is a more difficult thing to process. It would come down to just how you plan to use this app. For me, I use the app only when I'm thinking of shopping around for a new cell phone carrier. I might also check it when traveling, especially to places like Arizona, Nebraska, and Nevada, where some of the major carriers don't always have good the app. It's a good "heads up." I imagine that if I lived in an RV and traveled all the time, especially to highly rural areas of the west, the subscription service would be a better idea. That's just my thought process. What is yours? Corrections: I deleted much of my 02-Sep-19 review since it was based upon my bad memory. In particular, I thought I got "the app?" for free. The author states that "the app?" has never been free. If that's the case, then "the app? Lite" may be a good way to look at the "paid for" app. I only upgraded from two to three stars, though, because I really don't like the concept of "crippleware," software that lets you use it a limited number of times before it "locks up" and isn't that useful anymore. And in this case, the stated "three uses" would seem to make the "the app? Lite" app shut down in a very short time; as I guessed above, maybe less than one day.
  • Hasn't been updated in OVER a YEAR!

    By Josh177 (Pcmac user)

Very very outdated maps, basically useless considering both ATT and T-Mobile have more than doubled their 4G the app. Example: when this App was last updated in Jan, 2014, AT&T had rougly 200 or so 4G markets (areas/cities). Now it's 500 to 550 markets AT&T covers with 4G, which is the SAME amount of Markets Verizon covers with 4G.. Huge difference then what the maps show. Same for T-Mobile they updated their 4G a lot but these maps are so outdated and don't show that.
  • App has become useless

    By jmacproi7 (Pcmac user)

In previous versions of the app, users had the option of accessing other the app map layers besides "4G". However, especially in this newest revision, it is impossible to access anything other than the 4G map (and makes it well known and with an annoying popup rather than not displaying the buttons selecting the other layers at the bottom of the app).
