What is Sound XP?

The ION Sound XP™ app is designed to enhance your sound experiences with compatible ION speakers. With this app, you can control your speaker's functionality from up to 100 feet away. You can adjust volume, lighting, equalizer settings, change input sources, check battery status, dial in your favorite radio stations, save radio presets, and more. The app controls music that streams from other apps on your device. You must first connect your device to the speaker via Bluetooth® before connecting with the app to control your streaming music remotely.

Download and install the Sound XP app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks Pc or Mac software Here >> .

Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using Sound XP on PC [Windows 7/ 8/8.1/ 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Sound XP"
The search will reveal the Sound XP app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Sound XP is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Sound XP.
Now enjoy Sound XP on PC.

To get Sound XP on Windows 11, check if there's a native Sound XP Windows app here » ». If none, follow the steps below:

Download the Amazon-Appstore » (U.S only)
- Click on "Get" to begin installation. It also automatically installs Windows Subsystem for Android.
- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)

For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.

Installing Sound XP:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.
- Search for "Sound XP" » Click "Install" to install Sound XP
- Sound XP will now be available on your windows start-menu.

Horrible and do not trust it

Downloaded the app tested it and it wanted to know my location to proceed. The app was deleted instantly and the speaker was returned the next day. This is a the app app and it does not need to know your location. You are forced to allow location otherwise the app will not proceed to your speaker settings. Since it was forcing location info, I deleted the app in 5 minutes and returned the speaker next day. I will never buy a ION product ever again. Thank you ION for such a horrible experience. I wonder what other info it tries to capture in the background. Stick with Bose or JBL speakers.

I’m not sure what all the negative reviews are about but I have the 280 and this app works fine with it. Only asked permission to access my Bluetooth, never asked about my location like one review mentioned.

No issues, 1st try with the app. Not a lot of features with the app but allows more control of the device. Nice interface for the FM radio controls and favorite stations.
Consistently Terrible

I wanted to enjoy my Ion Prime PA but since the day I got it out of the box it’s been a a struggle. Bluetooth disconnects, app will not sync. I’ll have the volume up to the top on my phone and with the ION…still not much the app. I try to use the Aux, doesn’t recognize. I bought this in August and want to return it as I’ve been so frustrated. The app should work better and is clearly a mess
