Not working properly
By joefitz (Pcmac user)
I’m a software developer with a lot of networking experience and have set up a bunch of smart home appliances. I have walked through the setup of my ultimate light string apx 10 times. Problems: after providing my network credentials, the lights sometimes don’t connect to my network. My app needs to scan for devices for like 10 mins before finding them. After it works, when I return back to the lights they’re offline. I have never gotten them online again without starting the process over.
If I put them into compatibility mode, I can connect to them and things actually work well... even the amazing feature where the camera maps each of the lights and allows you to paint the colors of each individual light on your tree. However, this needs to work on my network!
My wife bought them thinking that a tech guy like me would like them but it has been a headache. I think they’re going back to the store.

Need to know 2.4
By Boogiebass (Pcmac user)
I haven't owned this long at this point however, After trying several times to connect iOS devise unsuccessfully, and returning for another at local store, I read the fine print, this doesn't work with 5ghz wifi, only 2.4. Was able to connect originally purchased one. Check your Wifi before giving up. Yes it could use a some functional upgrades as far as connectivity and color wheel could actually be improved upon, for example you can't get wine red or burgundy. Petty petty I know but that was the color I set out for with gold trim tree. The developer does seem to be updating frequently and it definitely gets a solid 4 star and for the most part works well with iOS app. Would buy again. Also to my knowledge no Bluetooth as well.

Works with minimal Functions
By LeeishB (Pcmac user)
I haven’t had any connection issues like others but one key missing feature is the ability to create custom light colors or color combinations. Also you can’t set the lights to turn on or off at specific times.
The fact I have a $50 string of lights I can’t make alternate red/white is just sad. Because of that, if I have any connection issues at all I’m bringing them back to the store for a refund.
If all you want is the predefined colors and color combinations and don’t need the lights to turn on/off at specific times, the app and lights seem to work fine so far. But two seemingly basic features are missing.
If I could set a custom color combination and a timer for when the lights come on and off it would easily be a 5 star purchase.
Update, after 1 week now light string keep randomly either turning off. I’ll leave the house and come back to one or more strings just off. I have to reconnect and turn them back on. Very close to returning.

Best lights ever
By f uc k 69 (Pcmac user)
You need to connect to 2.4hz Wifi. This is due to the fact that 2.4 goes through wall. Most people DO NOT KNOW HOW TO CONNECT to the app, because they need to change their WiFi to 2.4 instead of it being 5hz. I am 15 years old and it’s so... easy for me to connect to the app. Furthermore, we can all politely, say that the developers try to improve the app every day by reading all of the feedback that they get from through the app. Although, the app still has some issues, like the “Firmware need upgrade” after the update. These lights are the best and the most affordable for the price.
