1. Shona101 is a simple bilingual story to help children learn basic Shona, an African language mainly spoken in Zimbabwe.

2. Linford Zirangwa a.k.a. Bembenene, a computer science undergraduate at Dartmouth College is a native Shona speaker from Zimbabwe.

3. - Interactive words: touch highlighted Shona words to hear their pronunciations and English translation.

4. Together, we worked on the Shona101 storybook to highlight the beauty of Shona language and culture.

5. The clues to finding the treasures lie in a map which can only be understood in Shona, which Bembenene understands.

6. Shona101 is narrated using a combination of English and Shona.

7. In this story, Ade reaches out to his friend Bembenene to help him find some cultural treasures.

Download an Android emulator for PC:

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using Shona101 on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Shona101"
The search will reveal the Shona101 app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Shona101 is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Shona101.
Now enjoy Shona101 on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use Shona101,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "Shona101" » then Click "Install".
- Shona101 will now be available on your Windows start-menu.
