Great Game! Well Worth The Money
I've seen this game before a few other times, and I got curious, so I bought it. Ever since the first swipe, I loved this game. It looks straightforward, but there is so many things you can do, and a very interesting story, especially when you go for the good ending. I won't spoil anything about the story but I will say that you will need some paper to write on if you go for the good ending. The humor is great, and it has some pretty funny moments. (Like the Dragon cards) I've beaten this game about six times and I know how to get Excalibur, the good ending, and most of the achievements. I love the fencing mechanic, and the great insults during the fight. And by the way, there are about 29 deaths in the game, and I have discovered 27 of them. It will take a while to 100% complete, but it's a good achievement. I would recommend this to anybody with a few dollars and thinks this game looks interesting.
I like this game, but
I want to love this game… But it is to random. Your decisions don’t seem to have a predictable outcome. You have no idea whether the outcome is going to be good or bad it’s pretty ambiguous. Which is quite frustrating. I don’t think I’ve been able to live more than 15 years in this game (which is only 15 decisions which takes about 5 minutes.) That being said it is a fun game. I just can’t seem to get very far in the game sometimes just for decisions and then I’m dead and I didn’t really seem like there was an obvious answer.
Note to the developers: When you make a decision-there is a small or large circle above. It would be great to see if that circle was green or red to know how they’re going to handle it. It’s not taking the fun out of the game it’s taking the frustration out.
Also it would be nice if you could add a little more variety to the sayings to help distinguish one reign from the next.
It would be also neat if you could add a swipe up or down to add choices. Instead of just yes no right or left. Perhaps those choices could be more or less extreme. I.e. swipe up strongly agree swipe right slightly agree swipe left slightly disagree swipe down strongly disagree Or something.
Great and fun game for history lovers!
I've only had this game for one night and I'm already in love with it! What a neat concept, to effectively play as a dynasty of kings! One that could last for over 1,000 years, as mine did! I could hardly tear myself away. It seems random and a little repetitive, but life can be like that, even for kings. You start in the early 7th century, and I made it past the turn of the 21st century. Every choose you make affects your kingdom, and while there are several ways to lose your throne (and your life), is IS possible to get a good ending! Cool idea, that you can play as all these kings, even if it is a little anachronistic to have a medieval style court long past that era. Try it- you won't regret it!

Please do not be mislead by reviews comparing Reigns to a choose-your-own adventure game/story. Reigns is not a game or a story. The "choices" in Reigns are a random mishmash that have no continuity, no story, and more times than not lead to consequences that make no sense. Reigns is not a "game" because games have rules, not arbitrary consequences. Let me put it clearly, there is _no_ gaming or strategy here. You make a choice, it affects four "indicators" of your kingdom's health (often in nonsensical ways), then you make another completely disconnected choice, it has its affects, etc. Reigns is also not a story because stories have continuity, character development, a plot, etc., and there is none of that in Reigns. So this is not a game or a story, and certainly not a choose-your-own adventure. So long as you are not expecting an actual game or an actual story, you might be somewhat entertained by Reigns. Some of the choices and characters are supposed to be funny. However, most of the attempts at humor I didn't find very clever.
Simple game with a simple concept, cool design. This is a game of DECISIONS.
Choose how to rule and what kind of legacy you leave behind. If you love choose-your-own-adventure type of games, you'll like Reigns. Lots of cool little achievements to check off, and i love all the characters you meet throughout the game. Some of the cards are pretty funny. I can keep playing for hours, trying to remain king as many years as possible without dying in the process!
Maybe have a pause button discreetly implemented somewhere in the interface, just cause it's easy to have your finger slip and you accidentally swipe the card the wrong way. Not a huge deal though. So glad i bought this!
Amazing For A Strange Concept
It took me a while to understand this game, and truthfully I didn’t commit to paying 3 dollars for it for many months and only played it on my friend’s phone. It took observing him understanding the consequences, story, goals, and progress for me to become invested. It seems empty and bland, but it takes noticing small changes and remembering conversations to understand the plot. And yes, it is HEAVILY effected by the player’s decisions. (It has three endings based on those decisions; it really has four if you count never figuring it out as an ending)
By the end I was heartbroken I couldn’t play any more. This game is not for everyone but for those who do enjoy it will be completely enchanted.
Great game with fun choices.
This game is great to play on public transports. The king lives (the actual game) can be super short to pretty long. (Ranging from few years (couple seconds) to a full long life (10-20 minuets) ) and the best part is that even tho the main game is about the short life’s of kings and prett much each time u start a new kings life the game starts a new. There is actually an overall story that progresses along the family tree from king to king. Things that can actually speed up the demise or success of your current king.
Hope my explanation confused enough people to actually give this game a fair try...cuz it’s AMAZING AF!!!🔥💯
One of the best games I've ever played.

I love this game so much and it is time consuming and I like how you added a new character to the game on the recent update and I think that you should continue to add more characters in the future to make it even better. Good job with the game, but as you go throughout the years and eras, every time you reach a new time where there was new technology and where people dressed different than medieval, you should add in the game where the setting changes since you won't be in medieval years anymore, if you get what I'm saying. But good job overall.👑 👑 👑 👍🏻
A compelling experience reducible to decision trees
In a simplistic determined model of interactions. The game reign shines as it provides a curious insightful narrative woven in a game mechanic that is essentially commentary on how simple and discriminatory some of our most popular relational (speaking of Tinder) institutions are.
In this game the ability to control relationships is turn upside down. The volition and powers the NPC have end up controlling you. Your only chance of survival is routinely memorizing patterns for swiping and prompts to succeed at a certain narrative branch. Once a branch is complete, it only opens up more.
Pivotal concepts in this conversation are life, death, control, and legacy.
The basic idea is, the game randomly shows you events and gives you two options to choose from, where your choices will affect the status (eg happiness of your people) of your state or trigger a storyline. The randomness and the degree of freedom might seem great but once you start you will find it actually boring in five minutes. The problems are:
1) The supposedly random events get repeated again and again.
2) Your actions have unpredictable consequences which is frustrating because you might get killed no matter how hard you try to make the “right” choice. If you get killed no matter what, why bother thinking before you choose? So you end up just swiping pointlessly.
3) The storylines, like all other events in the game, progress in an unpredictable, unreasonable and meaningless way.
