  • Used to work, now barely works

    By RalPh8 (Pcmac user)

Like a number of others that have already reviewed this doorbell I had a similar experience. When I first installed this 3.5 months ago it worked great! I mean it never missed picking up motion and anytime anybody got anywhere close to the doorbell bam! Camera on! Now it’s just an expensive normal doorbell. SOB. It won’t pick up motion anymore. Don’t know what happened. All it does is activate the camera when the button is pressed but I can walk in and out of my front door ten times and it will never detect me or my roommate. About a month ago I called the app customer service not once but twice. I was told that others were having a similar issue and that I need to let them upgrade me from version 5017 to 5025. I was told that would take 3 days. I waited a week. Nothing. I called back. I was told that yes I would have to keep waiting because it was taking them longer than normal and that they were having to do the upgrades one by one. They said this time that would be closer to two weeks. Well now I’ve waited a whole month and the only thing that has happened as the the app motion sensing has gotten even worse. I mean it’s just pathetic. For something that originally worked great out of the box and had no flaws and did everything exceptionally well, it’s baffling how a reputable company can take something so positive and screw it all up. Really starting to regret the app all together now. I hope they get their s#!£ figured out.
  • Great at first, but now it’s horrible!

    By Me. X (Pcmac user)

When I first purchased and installed this door bell, it worked fine. After a few months, the doorbell stopped detecting motion. So people are able to walk right up to my front door and the doorbell detects absolutely nothing unless it’s pressed. Then and only then will I get a notification stating that someone rang the bell. As far as getting notifications that there was motion detected, that is no more. I’ve done absolutely everything that could be done to troubleshoot this issue and nothing seems to work. Oh, and as far as customer service goes, good luck. No matter what time of day that you call or how many times that you call, NO ONE EVER PICKS UP THE PHONE. You get to listen to an automated recording that states that they are experiencing a higher than usual call volume and to please be advised that your call will be transferred to a voicemail after 15 minutes (WHICH IS GUARANTEED TO HAPPEN). When someone called me back a day or two later, I was advised that my software might be out of date and that the only way to update it would be on their end. I was told to give it a couple of days and that I would get a phone call back. That never happened. I can almost guarantee that my software is not the issue and that they can’t figure out what the problem is. I’m going to give the ring doorbell a shot.
  • I had it for 2 years I want to love it

    By OmeNay (Pcmac user)

The color night vision is awesome the app is not up to par I cant integrate it with google and I’m forced to change this bell The of motion detections don’t allow you to grid events by day so you have to scroll scroll scroll and after you watch the recorded event it takes you back to the top again then guess what you have scroll scroll scroll so frustrating and it disconnects about 2 times a month I tried my best and 2 years equals patience the app hasn’t updated since I was waiting for an update but the look of the product and the quality of camera is amazing hd and radius of coverage is my whole block and street but it needs a better app it should launch updates to keep the bugs fixed and up to date of tech savvy ones I think I will wait 6 more months and pray for an update
  • Return ASAP

    By lswelsh (Pcmac user)

If we could return our the app we would but it came preinstalled when we bought the place. From the beginning it was not great. To start we had a difficult time getting it to connect. Once it finally started working we found that it doesn’t detect motion well. It should detect motion within 5 feet but we have people walk right up to the door and it doesn’t notify us. Some homeless guy came up and used our patio outlet to charge his phone at 2am and we had no idea. The outlet is practically below the doorbell. It wasn’t until the guy came back to check on his phone that we were notified of motion. The video starts at the top of the guys head because he is already bent over checking his phone. Now we have no audio and we cannot review videos of recorded activity. The audio went out when our device was updated to the new iOS 12 a couple weeks ago. the app’s reply when I reported this was to uninstall iOS 12 if audio is important. Easier said then done. Now we have no audio, we are not being notified of all activity near our door, and now it’s been more than 2 days since our log updated any activity. If you haven’t bought the app don’t. If you just bought it TAKE IT BACK. It is not worth your time.
