  • I love this app.. but...

    By sticklen (Pcmac user)

I have used Apple Mail for my mail client … well forever. But with Sierra I am having more and more trouble with mail. I am sure the Apple Mail problems will get worked out, but I went to try this app for GMAIL because I am so frustrated with Apple Mail currently. My business mail is all on GMAIL, but I have a personal email with some volume on Apple Mail. Of course, Apple Mail can access different types of mail accounts, including iCLOUD-based email and Google-based email. I have found it up to now to be functional. But this app for GMAIL Is soooooo… much faster, clearner, … than Apple Mail that I am thinking seriously of looking to find a way to do all my email via this app. Two things stopping me: 1) not sure if there is an iOS app that is “like” this app (from the same company would be nice… 2) (the biggie) I need this app to be able to connect to iCloud as well as Google. Might be a stretch to get Apple to approve that through the App Store… Then again, Apple would themselves (and their loyal customers) a GoodThing if they would just buy the company that does this app for GMAIL, disassemble and understand it, then redo it from the ground up to handle multiple email server types. (Unless the “company” is Google… ) I like this app very much… just wish that it could accept email feeds from the iCloud servers. JHS
  • Good. Could be better.

I was really excited by this app. The usability is so much more intuitive than mail and it beats having to this app through your browser to check your gmail. Working remotely, I need to respond to emails pretty timely so the notifications are a must have. That being said, if you have two email accounts linked through this app, you’ll only recieve notifications for the account that you have open at the time. Also, because you’re not in the browser, there’s nothing running spell check which is a pretty valuable thing to have when you’re sending professional emails. I’m tempted to this app back to the browser for this reason alone. Overall it’s good…but it could be better.
  • Great for desktop notifications, almost flawless as stand alone app

    By Keyboard Shortcutter (Pcmac user)

I downloaded this app simply to get desktop notifications for Gmail. Gmail has a setting for that, but the notification does not make sound and disappears after a few seconds. I was surprised by the app interface and liked it a lot, but it had one small problem. Whenever you hit the “g” key it triggers the mac error tone. This can get very annoying when you use the Gmail keyboard shortcuts as “g” is the key you use before navigating anywhere. I still use the app to send me notifications, but I continue to access Gmail through Safari. Love the app, and whenever the creators get around to fixing this bug, it will be pretty much flawless.
  • A little better than using the web browser

    By ProvorseD (Pcmac user)

I prefer this stand alone app for Gmail because it can be setup on the Mac to be the primary email client. That means that when I click something that says “email” it will open this app for Gmail instead of the Mac email program. I like it much more than the Mac email program because it subdivides all of your emails just like the actual gmail accounts are supposed to be. It is a replica of the browser version of Gmail but better because I can have it as a separate window and not get it mixed up or accidently closed thinking its another tab. Also, it can be set as the primary email client for my Mac. Absolutely happy this exists!
