What is LeafSpy Pro?

The Leaf Spy Pro app is designed for Nissan Leaf electric vehicle owners who want to monitor their battery and other vehicle information that is normally visible only to the dealer. The app is compatible with iOS 7.1+ devices and requires the LELink Bluetooth 4.x LE OBDII adapter or a WiFi OBDII adapter. The app supports English and Japanese languages and can run in the background while connected to the Leaf.

Software Features and Description

1. The Leaf Spy Pro application allows anyone with a Nissan Leaf electric vehicle, an iOS 7.1+ device and the LELink Bluetooth 4.x LE OBDII adapter (recommended) or a WiFi OBDII adapter the ability to monitor their battery and other vehicle information normally visible only to the dealer.

2. LeafSpy Pro also gives you the ability to perform functions normally requiring a visit to the dealer.

3. Note: The iPhone 4 and early iPads (2nd Gen) do NOT support Bluetooth 4.0 LE.

4. * Logging function that records most data and optionally GPS location to a csv file that can be easily imported into excel.

5. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

6. When using run in background mode where you enable GPS to run continuously.

7. Support for English and Japanese language.

Install LeafSpy Pro app on your Windows in 4 steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks PC software Here >> .

Install the emulator:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using LeafSpy Pro on PC [Windows 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "LeafSpy Pro"
The search will reveal the LeafSpy Pro app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once LeafSpy Pro is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including LeafSpy Pro.
Now enjoy LeafSpy Pro on PC.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use LeafSpy Pro,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "LeafSpy Pro" » then Click "Install".
- LeafSpy Pro will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

LeafSpy Pro functions

- Displays voltage of each of the 96 cell pairs (highlighted if shunt active)

- Shows minimum, average, and maximum cell pair voltages

- Provides a histogram of cell pair voltages

- Displays battery temperature readings (4 sensors for 2011/12 models, 3 for 2013 models)

- Shows battery AHr rating (an indication of remaining capacity)

- Displays VIN and odometer (miles or km)

- Shows number of Quick Charge and L1/L2 Charge connections

- Displays EVSE max available amps and voltage

- Shows battery energy level in GIDs and kWh

- Provides a resettable energy usage meter (Wh resolution)

- Displays SOC, GIDs, and DTE (Distance to Empty) in a graphic display

- Gives the ability to perform functions normally requiring a visit to the dealer, such as changing automatic door lock/unlock settings, changing VSP sound settings on 2013 and newer Leafs, reading Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC), registering tire positions, and resetting DTCs from selected ECUs.

✔ Pros:

- Provides additional information about battery health, battery temperature, and tire pressure

- Can turn off annoying backup and slow forward motion sounds

- Allows for registering TPMS of winter tires/wheels, saving money on tire shop or dealer fees

- Live data from TPMs is helpful

☹ Cons:

- Assigning TPMs to the correct corner could be simpler

- UI could be more user-friendly

This tool paid for itself the day it arrived. I disabled the backup warning (it had to go) and low speed warning noises. The tire pressure monitor (TPM) is very helpful. It took about 15 mins to get the TPM assigned to the correct corner once I understood the GUI. The assigning process could be much more simple, but it does work fine. I like having the live data from the TPMs. Very useful battery monitoring tools that take some time to understand the data your getting. I found some of the change options under the service screen (if used incorrectly) detriment. The warnings are there and would recommend users heed them or at least proceed with carefully.
Use it all the time, but.....

This is a great app and I use it just about every time I drive my car. The but is.......I moved to a new area with varied terrain and seasonal temperatures. The miles/kWh isn’t as accurate as I would like when discovering new routes to my destinations. I think it’s because the kWh units are too small (the degraded battery in my 2011 holds less than 14kWh. Instead, I think a GIDs/Mile feature would allow better assessment of various routes, and sections of routes, as I have 200+- of those when starting out. Perhaps a real-time GIDs/Mile reading as well as an average reading would be helpful. Anyway, thanks for the great app!
Great tool for anyone with a Leaf

This is a great tool to get additional info from the Leaf about battery health, battery temp, tire pressure, and more! This latest version added support for turning off the annoying backup sound as well as the slow forward motion high pitched sounds - allowing the 2013 and later Leafs to be quiet as they should. The moment I got this version I turned off the annoying VSP sounds making the Leaf much better! Thanks for adding this functionality!

This app just paid for itself by letting me register the TPMS of my winter tires/wheels instead of paying a tire shop or dealer to do it. That alone is worth the app price, but it also adds all kinds of useful information regarding battery health, etc. only downside is that I wish the UI was a bit easier to use.
