What is Composer Express?

Composer Express is a configuration tool designed for authorized Control4 partners to simplify the installation process and increase productivity during system setup. It can be used as a standalone tool for smaller projects or as a companion to the full Composer Pro programming experience for more advanced projects. It allows partners to create accounts, define a system, connect devices, and manage customer projects.

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Composer Express"
The search will reveal the Composer Express app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once Composer Express is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Composer Express.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

To use Composer Express,
- Login to the PlayStore we just installed
- Search for "Composer Express" » then Click "Install".
- Composer Express will now be available on your Windows start-menu.

Composer Express functions

- Search for, view, and add new customer accounts under your dealership

- Register a controller to a customer account

- Service and update a customer system locally or remotely

- Add and identify a new controller into the project

- Search and add device drivers from an online database or personal cloud storage

- Set all project properties (date, time, timezone, location, locale & language, etc.)

- Discover and add SDDP and IP devices on a local network

- Setup and manage Zigbee networks and discover Zigbee devices

- Add and manage supported Z-Wave devices

- Update drivers on customer systems

- Create connections between devices (AV Inputs, AV Outputs, Control, and Room)

- Configure and set properties on device drivers

- Manage room settings for device visibility, display order, or hide the room entirely

- View Network status of all ZigBee (signal, battery, associated mesh controller)

- Backup customer projects

- Load customer projects (or project templates) from an online backup, USB drive, or Dropbox

- Refresh Navigators

- Assign a 4Sight license to a customer account

I use my iPad for most everything, including making changes to client’s systems via the C4 Express App. I love it. I just wish this app could be viewed in landscape mode in addition to portrait mode so that I don’t have to remove my iPad’s keyboard to use the app. Otherwise, it’s a great app. Also hope custom programming becomes a feature in the near future as well.

It won't replace my laptop but it's cool for testing while sitting by the system rack on existing systems. I used it for a system that crashed after a brown out to determine connections since the original installer didn't label a dang thing.
