Download and install the Bird QR app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:
- Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks Pc or Mac software Here >> .
- Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.
- Using Bird QR on PC [Windows 7/ 8/8.1/ 10/ 11]:
- Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "Bird QR"
- The search will reveal the Bird QR app icon. Open, then click "Install".
- Once Bird QR is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including Bird QR.

- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)
- For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.
- Installing Bird QR:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.
- Search for "Bird QR" » Click "Install" to install Bird QR

✔ Pros:
- Bird-a-Day Calendar provides useful information for new bird watchers
- Cornell University has done a lot to make bird identification fun
- App is easy to use
☹ Cons:
- App has no search option
- Sound does not work when phone is on silent mode
- After 10 months, app stopped working and won't play bird calls
- Scanning codes for bird calls works, but pressing play on a particular sound does not produce any sound

Audio works on my iPhone 6

I normally leave my phone in silent mode throughout the day because the vibrate is sufficient in nearly every case. Well apparently not here. After turning the phone off of silent mode the sound came out fine.
Oh yeah, and the app is easy to use. It’s not flashy and I wish there was a search option, but that’s not why I have this app anyway. It works.

Bird QR is great!

Installed this app to use the the app-a-Day Calendar, which gives a lot of useful information to us new the app watchers. I bought the calendar at a local Wild Birds Unlimited (WBU) store here in New Jersey. Did not know how much Cornell University has done to make the app identification fun! Our Scotch Plains, NJ WBU has local free seminars and hikes to help us appreciate our feathers friends even more!

Doesn’t actually work

I scanned the codes for the the app calls and it would pull up the the app songs. But when you press play on a particular sound or song it doesn’t actually make any sound. I made sure my volume was all the way up. I’m not connected to Bluetooth so I know the sound is not going through some other speaker. It’s just not working.

Stopped working

After 10 months of working fine every day - won’t get past swirling wheel to play calls. I was trying to decide between this calendar or the Audubon for 2020. Without a fix will likely go back to Audubon.
