  • Lots of fun! I like it more than Gadget

Quick tip: to get patterns longer than a bar- 2, 4, or 8, simply navigate to the machine of choice and scroll down. Each machine has its own piano roll beneath it, that is where you set the pattern length. Press grid, then 4x, 8x, etc. Recording live is great, rock solid quantization. SOUNDS great. There are deep sound design possibilities but the fx are so good you could get by just with presets and fx. Once you understand how things are organized, which didn't take long, it's very easy to create a lot of music very quickly. Don't bother arranging at the start, just create patterns till your heart is content and then arrange later. Not much to complain about aside from very small interface quirks that aren't that big of a deal. I suppose more instrument tracks would be nice. But with the live automation recording and 16 tracks, you won't lack for cool sounds. Also, don't miss the PCM synths ability to import audio from elsewhere. You can edit and apply fx to imported audio endlessly. Great app, my only regret is I didn't buy it sooner!
  • Getting there

    By jmilzy (Pcmac user)

App UI is a bit much to get used to. It is not very intuitive. However once you master the funky setup it does get easier to use. The songs I have made actually get about as close to a desktop sound as I have ever achieved on a mobile app. I would be giving this 5 stars, but the lack of audio output routing and being on a newer iPhone is kind of a deal breaker. Bluetooth is a necessity on iOs devices with the removal of the 1/8” jack. (I have a lightning adapter but have no idea where) right? ... this is a monster app packed full of features, a lot of which you can’t get in just one app. The sounds your able to achieve are good enough to make a sellable product. Of course you’ll need a daw for live instruments and vocals. All in all great app. Just please bring Bluetooth audio routing. Maybe add a “check device default audio output” or “output device default” to your source. Don’t know what language this is written in (python or ruby, c++...) don’t know hard this would be. Keep up the great work though. Thank you for the free windows version!
  • Best music creation app

    By Andreslocousa (Pcmac user)

Please Update!!! No app--not figure, beatbox 2, garageband, rebirth,fl mobile, music studio, tabletop,I mpc, nano studio, gadget, cubasis, not all the loopers, not funkbox--no app inspires me to create sonically valid beats and grooves faster than this app. Ease of use, simplicity and plenty of user control make this app irresistible. With this update we now have a program with all the fun, yet actually more intuitive than the early years of FL Studio, Reason, Arturia Storm. No gimmicky visual distractions or sonic show off soundscapes. Unspoiled workflow with no cluttery bells and whistles. .The most transparent introduction to synthesis and to sequencing I have ever encountered. With audiobus and midi this app is the gold standard for user friendly no b.s. music creation. Every time I open this app I come up with a groove pattern or a song. Provides the workspace and workflow!
  • Incredibly intuitive, powerful, and fun to use

By alternative is not emo. (Pcmac user)

I have messed around with production since 2011, trying different DAWs to find one that I truly liked. I downloaded this app in October and have spent 1000+ hours using the app. I’m still finding out new ways to use its tools and very rarely feel like I’m held back by the limitations on the machine. There are some elements that are inconvenient when using an iphone (sound doesn’t play on Bluetooth headphones) but the portability and ability to quickly jump into production more than makes up for it. Would recommend this to anybody, whether as a supplement for desktop DAWs or as a primary workstation for amateur production.
