This $30 app WORKS after trying four others that DIDN’T. Formerly I used Acrobat, but we’re only CS6 and in High Sierra, Acrobat X no longer does OCR. We can’t afford the astronomically expensive $80/mo per computer for Creative Cloud. I tried several others on App Store, even paid for some, but none worked, altho one the app OCR X did work but produced a very simple text file w returns at end of every line, just almost unusable. This one does work! And with almost no errors. I wasn’t using it with columns, don’t know whether it will handle columns. Acrobat used to do a very good job of columns, etc. It might be worthwhile to fire up an older Mac and use it for good apps that ran fine but no longer run right in newer Mac OS X versions. It always has been doubtful to upgrade Mac OS X because the newer versions won’t run old good apps. We never use but a small fraction of the huge unneeded but expensive complexity in Adobe apps. Adobe apparently no longer wants to serve us small publishers.

This has the most accurate OCR that I have seen. For a test document I used a TIFF image made by scanning a Xerox copy of a typewritten page. Some parts of the image are quite legible and some parts are pretty bad. I compared it to Acrobat Pro 9.5.5 and Acrobat Pro CC. "this app" did much better at recognizing than either of the Acrobat Pros. I look forward to improvements such as multiple file input. But from now on "this app” will be my first choice.

It is really a powerful tool to convert the app files to word, including normal the app files, scanned the app files and password encrypted the app files. Compared to other tool with single function, this app really helped me a lot. The most important, apps converting with OCR are usually a little expensive, but this app is comparetively cheap. I didn't spend my money on the wrong place.
Fast, user-frienldy, and more output formats supported.
