If you want to install and use the Hangouts app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use this app for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Hangouts in the search bar and press Search. Click on Hangouts application icon. A window of Hangouts on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use this app for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

Download on Andriod, Iphone
Free On iTunes
Download Android

Thank you for reading this tutorial. Have a nice day!

  • Just a Humble Fool's Opinion

This is good stuff. Good cheese. One of my relatively close acquaintances (friends) has a certain cellular device (phone) that charges for virtually cummunication (texting), so we use this to "talk" to each other. I'll admit it does crash once in a while, but you'll hop right back on the message express as if nothing has happened. However, there's a good chance that's my own fault for running it on an iPhone 4S. Now for the weird stuffs. The whole color of the app is very appealing to me, most likely because I love that specific shade of green. I also appreciate that I can still use my old emoticons with some of the app's own added to the lot. I must say I favor Mr. Spookman (the skeleton) very much. Overall, this app has never given me a valid reason to dislike it (it probably will someday, but nobody really cares anout my personal, inside-the-mind opinion, so just ignore that bit), so if you like doing the texting, get the app that does the good texting.
  • Pretty cool.

I’ve been using this app for three years now and it works pretty good. There are times when it glitches out (the screen freezes, the keyboard disappears, messages won’t send etc) but those glitches are less common now. When it comes to video chatting in large groups, sometimes it overloads it and everyone freezes but that can be fixed by everyone (except for one person) hanging up and re-joining. There was one time when the video chatting system barely worked but that was a while ago. Overall, it’s a really useful app for people who can’t afford phones or data because it can be used on almost any device. Half the time I forget I’m using an app and just feel like I’m texting instead. Oh, and the screen will show who is there in the chat with you, when a message was wrote, and if someone is typing or deleting something in a message. I always found that to be a fun and useful feature.
  • Never stop supporting it!!!

    By BlackRose0924
I've been using Google Hangouts since 2013 as one of my main forms of communication. I've liked the interface for all the years I've used it and all of the improvements from sending multiple photos to sending your location to your friend(s), to even the animated emoji gumdrop gifs that you could send dubbed "stickers" (which are still cute as hell)! It's basically a triple threat app that needs to still be relevant if Google expects to compete with Apple in any way. It has FaceTime, Phone, and iMessage all in one and it's taken for granted every single day as it loses support for the newer apps like Allo and Duo. It's frustrating to see Allo and Duo catch on when they're two separate apps that can do what Hangouts has been doing for years. Keep it around, update it, don't let it die! Update: On iOS 11.0.3, it seems it’s having some issues with photos? Whenever I try to go to my photos directly inside the app and share a photo, it won’t let me. It’ll tell me to Cancel or Choose, and when I tap Choose, it slide over and shows the photo with no way to go back to typing or viewing my conversation. I have to forcibly close the app. Another issue would be that it won’t let me share my gifs via the share extension. It does allow me to share, but it freezes the gifs in place, making them a still. I hope you guys resolve this problem. It’s a great app that still deserves support.
  • Fantastic App! Really Free WiF Calling

    By TransGuyBI
Great App that solves my issues of changing cell carriers if needed. I always have this number which is always the same. Even if you are traveling you can receive your calls and texts because they send them to your email and u can retrieve them there. App gives you the option of receiving transcribed voicemail to your email which is a nice Bonus! This is one of the few WiFi Calling Apps that is Really Free. Messaging, photos, texting, group chats. It ties into your contacts seamlessly just like if you were using your cell phone phone to make a call. You can also Port a cell number you want to keep to your Google Acct so that you will Always have that number forever. We will be using our Google number as our home phone which we can answer via Laptop, Desktop, tablet etc. A free Home phone number that can be used at home or when out. Other apps do not do all of what this App does. And most WiFi calling Apps cost money, this does not ever. I have other messaging/ calling Apps that I use for sales or for filling out questionnaires. But I use this as my own forever real phone number where family and friends can reach me no matter if I switch carriers or if I am traveling. Highly recommended for a real phone & real messaging tool.

  • This Is pretty good

    By Gavin Z.
I think it’s pretty good because some people don’t have phones or phones that have phone numbers. It’s useful because if I want to text someone I could get their email and then put them as a contact in my Gmail and then text him/her.

Good app but I think introduction of status update will bring a lot of improvements and more people to use more than whatsapp
  • BEST THING EVER!!!!!!!!!!

    By Cruz.C
This is the best thing ever because of how you get to talk to people and you can also have a three way or more call with your friends! The part about how I gave this a five star is that well first it was really close to getting a four star because it was at 1% of getting a five but still got it because it had one bug it would not let you go to the very first text you sent to a friend or family member but otherwise it’s the best app ever
