What is Abalone?

Abalone is a strategy game that has been around for nearly 30 years. The game is played on a hexagonal board with black and white marbles. The objective of the game is to push your opponent's marbles off the board. The game requires strategic thinking and planning to win. The app offers different game modes, including solo play against the computer, multiplayer mode, and a campaign mode with unique challenges. The app also offers different difficulty levels and the ability to create your own game rules.

Game Features and Description

1. When you’re in a Sumito position (that is, when your marbles both outnumber and are in contact with your opponent’s) you can push their marbles out! For example, you need three black marbles to push one or two white marbles.

2. Abalone has been one of the best games around for nearly 30 years, known for its hexagonal board and black and white marbles.

3. Create a plan of attack to push your opponent’s marbles off the board.

4. For example, Challenge Mode helps you become a true Abalone master, one move at a time.

5. Just like in chess and checkers, you can try to create traps by sacrificing marbles or strategic positions to block your opponent.

6. To hone your strategic thinking, the game offers several modes that let you review your games play by play.

7. For example, at first you must push out a single marble only to win a challenge, then two, and the master will get progressively tougher.

8. There’s no use in rushing; it’s better to take your time and think of every possibility since one hasty move can put you in a bad position and let victory slip through your fingers.

9. On every turn, you can move one space in any direction with 1, 2, or 3 lined-up marbles.

10. Play alone against the computer with Challenge Mode and Free Play Mode, or play against your friends.

- The graphics of the original app were nicer and more like the physical Abalone board game.

☹ Cons:

- The zoom key can be annoying and trigger accidentally, making it difficult to undo moves.

- The color location doesn't flip when choosing white, making it frustrating to play from the upper position.

- The GUI is inverted and the area to choose colors and positions is not clear.

- The time limits added to make the game harder can be annoying and take away from the strategy aspect of the game.

- The newer version of the app requires earning coins to play the old version, even though the user already paid for it.

- Upgrading to the newer version stripped the user's rank away.

"Timed" levels ruin game

It's an OK game, I guess, but in trying to make it "harder" as you progress, instead they just made it more annoying. It's a strategy game, but for no reason at all, they start giving you time limits, so you have to rush and don't really have time to think about your moves. If you stop to think, you could be playing the waiting game, and then because you took a second to long to think about a move, you lose. That's not fun at all, it's just annoying. If the fun part of the game is thinking and strategy, you shouldn't have to rush through it, you should be able to think and strategize. UPDATE: Tonight I came back to this fame after a long break. It took 2 minutes to remember why I abandoned it: one of the "timed" levels is virtually impossible, and unless you get lucky and guess right (since you don't have time to think and strategize your moves) you just keep losing the same level over and over again. And it doesn't let you skip a level, so you're stuck either playing the same impossible level dozens of times, or just deleting the app. I deleted it.
Choosing the white side

Dear support, when i choose white the board/color location doesn't flip, so I'm obliged to play white while still in the upper position which is frustrating, trying to flip the iPad looks cheap, and all the GUI is inverted. In addition, the area where to choose colors and positions is not clear. Please update. For the rest it's pretty well done. Thanks.
Paid for the original app hate the new version

I liked the way the original app would match you up with a live opponent. The original graphics were nicer and more like my first Abolone board game looks. The newer app just is not for me and I feel like I was ripped off because now I have to earn coins to play the old version even though I already paid. Also, it was very bogus to strip my rank away. I was in the top 500 on the original score board and it took my rank when I upgraded... I have played this app long before it was put out as an app. When I found it as an App, it opened the door to play against opponents around the world and allowed me learn new plays when I matched with players that were better than me. Hey But since I upgraded, it’s been very dissatisfying to even open the app.
Love everything except for one thing

Can the zoom key please be removed? Every time I'm trying to undo a move, the zoom is triggered instead. Now I have to zoom out and try again and again it does it. It gets really annoying. I've never had to zoom in ever.
