  • If you want videos playing on your TV in minutes, get Sofaplay

    By mjmonjure (Pcmac user)

It took me 5 minutes to zero in on this app by googling “stream videos from Mac to xbox”. Once you get to this app’s website, they have a link that will take you into the app store, pony up the $4.99 and download /install it. Over on your xbox one, check to see if you have XBox One Video App. Go into your apps section and look for an app that says "Movies & TV”. If you have it, search for it in the store and purchase it, then launch it. Stop there, it will come up with screen to try and get you t buy actual movies or shows, but don’t do anything. Just go back to your this app app and you will see that your app has already found the xbox and will show up in the bottom left corner of the UI. Then you will see a dark gray box with an arrow pointing downward, What its trying to tell you is to drop video file from you MAC onto the grey arrow in the SofaSplay. The minute you drop it in there, it begans playig on your PC, No configuration, no myriad of things to configure or other sets, steps to do, simple as pie, I wish all sofware were this simple to set up. Once it is working, you can pause the move or skip around using the Xbox controller as you would have assumed. Perfect little pieceuf software that did exatly what I wanred to do with little to no effort. The entire process tokk less than 10 min. Highly reconneded for ease of us.
  • Can No Longer Find My Xbox One

    By Shafqat Huq (Pcmac user)

This app was working great when I first downloaded it, and was able to find both my Xbox One and my Samsung Smart TV. But suddenly 2 days later, it’s no longer able to find my Xbox One and I can only connect to my Samsung TV. Have tried deleting and reinstalling, restarting Xbox, manually entering IP address but that does nothing. Out of answers at this point, and feel like I just wasted my money buying this. Would appreciate any resolution.
  • Works mostly, has stability issues

    By ForgottenDuck (Pcmac user)

As far as I’m aware, this is the only option for streaming to Xbox One from Mac OS. I had some driver issues that could not be resolved when trying to get streaming on my Windows 7 partition, and decided to try this. It seems to stream MP4 files without any issue, however with MKV files the sound and video often stutters while playing. Sometimes this problem is resolved by pausing the stream for a few seconds, and the rest of the video plays normally, but some files are just unplayable. I think that it might be an issue related to file sizes and upload speed of the local network. MKV files tend to be larger and higher quality than MP4. Also, I often have to force quit the app between playing videos. All in all, I use this app a lot now, but there is lots of room for improvement. I recomend trying the free version first (this app Lite), and try out various file types and sizes, also make sure you can play the file on a media player like VLC first before deciding the app is the problem.
  • Don't waste your money

    By Hltdarby (Pcmac user)

I downloaded the lite version of this app and it worked really good but for only the allowed time since it was the free version. So I decided to spend the money for the full version and never got it to work again. I should have just thrown my money in the trash and saved the time I spent downloading it.
