What is Music Box Composer?

The Music Box Composer (MBC) app is designed to help users compose their own music prior to punching the paper strips for Music Boxes. It allows users to compose, preview, play, save, and share their creations via email or iTunes file transfer. The app supports 15, 20, 30, and 33 note music boxes and has a small but growing library of Music Box Strips that can be viewed via a web player or loaded into MBC on the device. The app is a fun music creation tool in its own right and has been rated as a Killer App by Apps4iDevice.

Software Features and Description

1. Designed to aid composing your own music prior to punching the paper strips for Music Boxes, MBC allows you to compose, preview, play, save and share your creations via Email or iTunes file transfer.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »

Here's the fix if you have no sound!

Turn off your mute/ringer switch on the side of your phone. That fixes it. Great app, really wish their was a user guide. The tutorial is very small/basic and the program is difficult to learn.

Wonderful app! If you are composing for the app box and you're a perfectionist like me, this app is absolutely essential. A real joy to work with. The best part is you do not need to know how to read the app, but it definitely helps to have an ear for it. Recommend spending some time in help mode reading all of the pop ups. Once you are familiar with the buttons/functions (all of which you will use at some point) the flow is very natural. Bravo!

Thanks for updating the app. 3 stars because it needs an update. Apple says this app will not work with IOS 11. Does that mean I'll lose all my work? PLEASE UPDATE It provides a fun way to work out harmonic and rhythmic ideas very quickly. I've written close to 100 short tunes, many of which are in 3 because, well, it's a the app box. MBC could use an update (according to my ipad) to make it work better with the current OS. Maybe it's a memory hog since it does crash quite often. Helps if you save work as you go. Thanks for a nice app.
Can’t open .midi files (iPhone)

It crashes everytime I try to load a custom midi file. Will this get fixed?
