  • Most important app I own

    By b8ch (Pcmac user)

I have used this app for 4 years and it has saved me countless hours in transcribing music. It covers nearly every conceivable musical notation and is easy to use. I play the flute in a church choir and I have over 200 pieces of music in the app. The developers have been extremely responsive when I’ve had a question about using the app.
  • Almost perfect

    By Julsida (Pcmac user)

It just needs better sound. If it had better sound, I’d never use anything else.
  • Great for light music writing!

    By Clatiriyunetti (Pcmac user)

I am a private lesson teacher. All I want to do with a music notation app is to write some short etudes and pop music dictation to motivate my students to practice more. There is another $15 music notation app in the market, but that one is just way too fancy for my need-- I am not writing a symphonic poem, I don't need London Symphony Orchestra plying my writing for me. I am not even sure my 16 GB iPad Mini has enough space for that app to run properly. the app is just right for me. The playback is not great, I have to be honest, but all I need from the playback feature is to make sure I wrote everything correctly. As long as it plays the pitches I wrote, I am willing to give up tone quality for memory space. My only problem is that I haven't found a way to insert a tie to connect the last note in the first ending to the first note in the beginning of the repeat. Other than this I am very happy with this app!
  • Great for small tasks

    By Mwonson (Pcmac user)

This app is great if you are just starting to write music. It is fairly simple, it takes some getting used to, but is still fairly easy to use. It has many great functions that can help your music writing become more descriptive. Wants: I wish that the playback followed dynamic markings, as this is key in any piece with multiple parts. Also, I wish they had more style markings, such as the note gliss for the trombone, and the fall, which is used for most instruments, particularly in jazz writing. Overall, great app, especially for it being free. And I like that some of the main functions aren't taken out to try and force the user to upgrade, but instead they have a great functioning free app, and upgrading gives you even more awesome features.
