What is bmGlyph?

bmGlyph is a bitmap font generator tool that allows users to create bitmap fonts and use them in their games or applications. It is a font atlas generator that supports multiple resolution export with the same project and is compatible with most frameworks, including SpriteKit. The app offers a range of features such as shaded material, color, glossy, gradient, or even import your own texture, font replacement for the missing characters, cast shadow with custom color and opacity, stroke with desired color / gradient and width, and much more.

Download and install the bmGlyph app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:
Get either Bluestacks or the Nox App >> . We recommend Bluestacks because you can easily find solutions online if you run into problems while using it. Download Bluestacks Pc or Mac software Here >> .

Install the emulator on your PC or Mac:
On your computer, goto the Downloads folder » click to install Bluestacks.exe or Nox.exe » Accept the License Agreements » Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installation.

Using bmGlyph on PC [Windows 7/ 8/8.1/ 10/ 11]:

Open the Emulator app you installed » goto its search bar and search "bmGlyph"
The search will reveal the bmGlyph app icon. Open, then click "Install".
Once bmGlyph is downloaded inside the emulator, locate/click the "All apps" icon to access a page containing all your installed applications including bmGlyph.
Now enjoy bmGlyph on PC.

Download the Amazon-Appstore » (U.S only)
- Click on "Get" to begin installation. It also automatically installs Windows Subsystem for Android.
- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)

For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.

Installing bmGlyph:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.
- Search for "bmGlyph" » Click "Install" to install bmGlyph

☹ Cons:

- Changing the "File Name" field on the Publish screen sometimes doesn't stick

- The first version bought crashed and locked up when trying to make a sprite sheet with many characters (but was fixed by the author)

Fabulous tool

So far this tool has been nothing short of awesome for making bitmap font sheets for use in Unity. I'd say that if I could get any features I'd add some options for filters (like blurs) and the ability to import some of the output types (like an FNT) and have it recreate the settings as best it can (font family and size is really all I care about) just in case I forget to save the project. Regardless it's still a great tool for any game developer. :)
New Version Much Improved

When I first bought this app I was trying to make a sprite sheet of a couple thousand Japanese characters I needed for my game. The first version I bought crashed and locked up when I tried to make a sprite sheet with so many characters. However, I sent an email to the author who was relatively responsive and actually fixed several of the issues I mentioned. Now the app works perfectly for what I need to do. It's not flawless but, the support is decent and it can handle large character sets. I would now recommend this app.
Great value

I chose this over Glyph Designer because it did what I needed for 1/4 of the price. I am using it to design bitmap fonts for a Corona SDK app and it works great. The only problem I've had is that sometimes when I change the "File Name" field on the Publish screen, the change doesn't stick and I have to open the file in a text editor to change the value.
A Must Have Tool for Cocos2D Developers!

This program works great. It has some excellent features including the ability to apply changes to only certain letters/numbers but noth others, the ability to texture a font with an image file, gradient on the stroke (new!), and more! This is a must have tool for all Cocos2D developers!
