What is JVM Programming Language?

The app is a programming language for iOS devices that allows users to study, perform complex mathematical calculations, and complete other useful tasks. It is especially useful for learning the JVM programming language. The app requires an internet connection and users must purchase compilations within the app.

Software Features and Description

1. JVM is a programming language originally developed by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems (which has since merged into Oracle Corporation) and released in 1995 as a core component of Sun Microsystems' JVM platform.

2. The language was initially called Oak after an oak tree that stood outside Gosling's office; it went by the name Green later, and was later renamed JVM, from JVM coffee, said to be consumed in large quantities by the language's creators.

3. Programming language is a perfect tool for studying, complex mathematical calculation, entertainment and many other useful tasks.

4. Gosling aimed to implement a virtual machine and a language that had a familiar C/C++ style of notation.

5. James Gosling, Mike Sheridan, and Patrick Naughton initiated the JVM language project in June 1991.

6. JVM is a general-purpose, concurrent, class-based, object-oriented language that is specifically designed to have as few implementation dependencies as possible.

7. The application is especially useful for learning the JVM programming language.

8. A classic JVM programming language for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

9. The language derives much of its syntax from C and C++ but has a simpler object model and fewer low-level facilities.

10. The original and reference implementation JVM compilers, virtual machines, and class libraries were developed by Sun from 1995.

11. - Online language reference and several program samples.

I will admit that I fell for the “Bait and switch.” You need to pay $3 to compile more than one program after installing the app.
  • UPDATED: SPY PIXEL; multiple class support needed

    By businessiTunes (Pcmac user)

UPDATE: SECURITY ALERT!! (Dropped 4 star rating.) There is a spy pixel in the program in the version prior to this update Feb. 22, 2016. I'm unsure of this version. I changed the background color from default blue to white and noticed a single blue pixel in the middle right of the screen. I opened notes (light background) and other apps and didn't see the pixel. Then while I was telling a friend about the pixel, I saw it slowly go to bright white then disappear. I took over 10 screenshots of the mystery pixel on white and brown background. I haven't seen the pixel again, but I stopped using the app, also. I don't want my creative programs stolen. **************** Review before noticing spy pixel: Good compilation time and thorough error notifications at compile time. I want to be able to load 2, 3, or more classes and run them simultaneously as a package. Right now, the app does NOT supply running multiple classes. Nine times out of 10, my program gets through to compile. One time out of 10, the server locks up and times me out without compiling my program.
  • Pretty good

    By Benssoon (Pcmac user)

This app lets you write, edit, and run java programs. However, it's a bit clunky, especially when it comes to editing. In order to delete large sections of text, you have to repeatedly tap delete. There's no way to select a bunch of text and delete it. At the very least it would be good to be able to use the standard tap and hold action for the delete button. This is the only app I've encountered that doesn't do that. Also, scrolling is really awkward and slow. It does have some weird limitations like the fact that you have to pay for compilations, you need Internet to run a program, and standard input has to be entered before the program is run. For an example of a really good programming app, check out Python 2.7 for iOS by Jonathan Hosmer.
  • An actual java compiler!

    By Nadhir93 (Pcmac user)

Wow. I just can't believe this is the real deal. I've been trying to get a Javac on my iPod forever so I can run programs when in not on the computer. I've bought at least a half dozen other paid apps that claim to be able to run/compile java programs, but could meet fulfill their promises. I even jail broke my iPod trying to get a compiler. After restoring my iPod, because just nothing worked, I've given up hope in finding a Javac on the app store. I tried searching again though and came across this app. I gave it a shot and it actually worked. I can now compile my programs on the go. Thanks so much!
