What is StarTracker HD?
The StarTracker app is an educational app that provides users with an augmented reality stargazing experience. It allows users to explore the universe by pointing their device to the sky and seeing stars, constellations, and deep sky objects in real-time. The app has been rated as the top education app in several countries and has received positive reviews from users.
1. • Bottom Right: Hide/Show Main Setting Menu, settings for name display, constellation, deep sky object, night mode, star amount and grid mode.
2. • Bottom Left: AR Compass indicator in AR track mode, pan the screen to enter un-track mode and click track button to back.
3. • When search any object under un-track mode, it will be locked at the center of the screen, then user can adjust time/date to see changes of the related sky.
4. • When under un-track mode, just lift up the screen and point it to the sky to enter AR track mode.

Usage:
- Bottom Right: Hide/Show Main Setting Menu, settings for name display, constellation, deep sky object, night mode, star amount, and grid mode
- Top Right: Search Menu (Solar system, 12 Zodiac and 88 Constellations, Deep Sky Object, and Famous Stars)
- Top Left: Location Menu, choose location from a world map. Below is the Share button
- Top bar: Time Machine Menu, adjust any time/date
- Bottom Left: AR Compass indicator in AR track mode, pan the screen to enter un-track mode and click track button to back
Tips:
- When searching for any object under un-track mode, it will be locked at the center of the screen, then the user can adjust time/date to see changes in the related sky
- When under un-track mode, just lift up the screen and point it to the sky to enter AR track mode.
- Provides a ride through the sky, which can be an interesting feature for some users.
- Works well on iPad Air.
- Controls are confusing and can leave users questioning where up and down are.
- Does not allow users to navigate exactly where they want to go and spin the sky the way they want to.
- The North Star can appear in different positions, making it difficult to predict what the stars will look like outside.
- Screen only shows at the bottom right corner about 1/3 of the screen on iPad Pro 12.9.
- Placement of some objects is way off, such as M71 being depicted between the feet of Gemini instead of in the constellation Sagitta.
